Super Jet midshaft housing on aftermarket hull

Im in process of setting up a wamiltions am sj hull, installing a new midshaft housing assy, there is a raised rubber seal lip on the housing that seals it to the bulkhead,i thought i read somewhere that oem superjet hulls have a reciever groove for this to sit in, the bulkhead on this hull is flat, seems like it would be alot of crush on the rubber seal and load on the 3 ears where it bolts on if i just tried to crank it down, anyone else run into this? i had thoughts of just cutting the lip almost flush to the flange and and use silicone to make the seal.. thanks for any info.

Dont cut off the lip. It is designed to flatten against the bulkhead.

The CF midshaft spacer is good to allow the inner part of the housing to flex, if stock style cup isnt there.
