FX-1 Man i am going FX1 Crazy!

Been trying to find an FX1 for about 4 or 5 months now and have had 3 deals fall through at the last min! Man these things are hard to find! :aargh4:

Why would you ever want to buy an FX1?

As usual I was thinkimg the same thing and you said it first. Rideordie is is because you rode one and thought it was cool ???

Not to dis any fxers But those have always looked kind of silly to me.

Yeah, who would want all glass (non-SMC) hull that weighs about the same as all the trick aftermarket hulls out there......except it actually turns. The other really "silly" thing about an FX-1 is that it has a hood design that is really water tight, so thats a bummer because now you can't buy all those cool trick bilge pumps and scuppers everyone else has (and they still seem to have trouble taking on water).

All kidding aside.....the FX is a fantastic ski if you take care of the pump deficiency. On the downside, they are getting really hard to come by lately.

LOL you guys are Funny! I could not agree more with special fx! I Have alway liked that they are smaller, lighter and more nimble to each is own!

Have you ridden one before? I've owned 2 FX1's. One of them is one of the most notorious FX1's out there. No matter how much I rode it, how much I invested, it still could not compete to a superjet. Yeah, Im a much better rider now that I finally switched to a superjet. But I scratch my head as to why I didn't switch sooner.

Special FX and maybe 5 other people in the WORLD can ride an FX1 better then 95% people on the X can ride superjets. But Special FX and the few others have been riding for 20+ years and are the best. Not saying that you are worse then those guys, or better, just know that its very hard to ride that ski to its full potential.

I had 2 FX1's and sold one this year, shoulda kept it in the stable! We have a couple AM ski's that are awesome, but everytime I ride the FX1 I keep loving it!

Thanks icecoled007 I talked to the guy that has the one with the 144 pump conversion i would be all over it if he would ship it but he doesn't want to looks like a
nice ski! Is there a way to search all of craigslist or are you just jumping from state to state when searching?

there are many ways to do this conversion....

you could modify the pump...but you will still have a stock pump inlet, although just the pump mod only WILL make a pretty nice difference....the BOB pump is exactly the same as the blowsion pump (bob designed it for blowsion)...

the best way is to cut the entire pump box out of a SJ or blaster and glass the whole thing in.....then you end up with a 144 pump tunnel, a 144 pump cavity and if you do it right you can put in a superjet drive shaft....

setting back the pump makes a HUGE....get that HUGE difference in this hull

read the craigslist post. pump from bonzi bob.....meaning pump was modified. i take it you've done plenty of these?

My only regret in jet skiing is purchasing a $600 service from Bonzai bob to modify a perfectly good superjet pump.

Unfortunately, I can't find the pictures I took a few years back. Though I will say, I could have done a better job. The only service that Bonzai bob offers is removing the tabs and welding on new ones. Whats the problem with this? When you heat up a wear ring, it swells and you will burn your prop first ride and have cavitation forever (I mean, out of the box it had massive high points). Along with that, he welded them on crooked, a good 1/2" crooked. He also grinds down on the top and bottom parts of the pump for the ride plate to fit. He made it so thin that parts of my housing on the wear ring and pump vein section broke off. When they broke off, my pump was not sealed allowing water to intrude/escape. I had a few other issus, but I can't remember...

I've done 4 different pump modifications and the best one by far is modifying the hull to fit the pump. I've ridden quiet a few FX1's with pump mods and only 1 guy did it right (me soon after I modified the hull as well).
