Major Problems, Ski runs away, doesnt come back

You don't see any of the good surf rider's running lanyard's for a reason, You don't have time to fumble around with a one in the surf.
Like already mentioned turn the idle down so it will die when you let go.
Flatwater is a different story.

You have plenty of time unless you are riding waves that are bigger than you are comfortable with.Running the lanyard allows you the option of doing many things on the wave off throttle.

My ski dosnt idle...if im doing anything off throttle i keep just enough rpms to not stall and to keep the pump loaded but not enough to give u any thrust...then when the wave sucks out mid face u can just blip the gas and air into the flats instead of taking a sand sample with your bow....although i prefer to keep it pinned most of the time anyways so its not an issue

my lanyard has almost killed me.

we get big surf and im not going to deal with fumbling with a lanyard so "if" my ski goes into missile mode, over being in the impact zone allll the time needing it to start ASAP.

all you gotta do is set the idle low so the motor pings 3 or 4 times before shutting off. never have an issue.

The verdict, I tryed ordering a lanyard yesterday but was unable to get it, the guy said to call him back today. First thing this morning I finally had a chance to go ride. Great morning, glass water, nice weather, and surf over my head. Since I hadnt got my lanyard yet I decided to turn the idle down. It pings once and dies. Wasnt an issue like I expexted, ended up working perfect. Once I started feeling a little more confedent I began playing in the waves before they broke. While riding with a small one I looked back and to see a wave braking way over my head. I got pumbled real hard. Swam back to my ski grabed it just to get hit harder again, this time I way able to grab my ski and get out just barly in time before getting hit again, pinning it on one cylinder. If I had to fumble with a layard it would have turned out much worse. I am leaving it the way it is and am no way going to put a layard on.
