anyone have any experience with the solas 140mm mag pump for a kawi with drop trim on it

i came across it looking for a skat

how does it work with a 701 ported motor?

i have a q8 with yam motor and kawi drive line (PUMP)

im not saying 148 with a stock 701 but a 144 at least. also, if all you are running is a stock 701 you have no business running a pump that is worth 2 times as more as your motor. it is like running a total loss system in a stock boat.. useless....

There has to be a reason why Skat Trak built a 140 mm in the first place. there are fully built super jet super stocks running 64 mph with good acceleration and good hook up and set up for closed course racing. If the 140 mm was so bad how can it not choke it self at those speeds. It's thrust that moves the ski forward not the volume of water. This pump diameter thing can be debated for a long time. There are so many different combinations of nozzle diameters stinger size and shapes and impeller designs. I see people try something and say it doesn't work and just rule it at that. It takes time and knowledge to figure things out. Unfortunately most think they have it when they don't.

To a certain degree you can offset the pump diameter with impeller pitch too. If the pump is too big then you pitch down and vise versa. It's all about desired results and finding the right combination to achieve it.

Keep trying new combinations guys and make sure to post your results.

everybody has different setups bro. art at jetworks recommends a 140mm mag for his bigbore motors (like i said i think 900cc and below, maybe 800) and everybody here that has had their stuff built by art only say positive things about their setups.

my mechanic who does work on our skis (2000+ miles away from art gomez)...no relationship to him (in fact i don't think they've even had a conversation) runs a 140mm mag pump.

i don't understand why everybody has to say...this is what myself and the majority of the people on this website run...therefore making you wrong lol



don't take this the wrong way...i'm not knocking anybody here...i just don't understand why that when one person does something different than the rest everyone has a conniption

Different people make different combos work. There are many different riding styles and preferences.

yes, everyone does have different riding styles. however. if you look at what he rides ( a q8) which is a flatwater freestyle boat. Threefore more then likely he wants to set it up as a flatwater boat. (backflips and barrel rolls) this will be very hard to acheive with the wrong pump. look at what everyone runs and how they ride and choose whos advice you want to take.... when i went from a 144 to a 148 on a 840cc motor my tricks improved dramatically. I can back up my statements with my riding... can all of you????:cheer2:
