Made myself a chin pad

I decided to try to make a squarenose chin pad out of fiberglass.
I took a stock chin pad and stripped off the old cover and padding and used that as the mold.

You just motivated me to try that with a spare stocker!! I have wanted a good chin pad for a long as I can remember but:bigeyes: $$.

I can't get the pics to come up. But I didn't get my new chinpad in as expected last week so I modified an old stocker to fit an xmw pole. Only I didn't make a mold and just left it all plastic plus some aluminum backing to get me through the weekend. Short weekend. Word to the wise - cover the jagged edges of your plastic chinpad with duct tape :banghead:

Sort of a related question, can one turf a stripped plastic chinpad? Will the contact cement hold?

Use 40 grit sandpaper, and sand the plastick real well, and the turf sticks very nicely.:cool2:

use spring clamps around the edges while the contact cement dries. let it sit w/ clamps for a few hours.
