A friend of mine made a mold of an unknown aftermarket chinpad and let me try it out. This was my first time making a part off a mold, but it was not that hard.
First pic shows the rough mold coated with mold release.
next, I draped a layer of CF first for looks, then laid several layers of cloth for a little strength.
Let it dry then pop part off of mold and rough trim and rough sand it all over.
Laid several more layers of cloth over it to get thickness & more strength.
Retrim and rough sand again.
cut & bent some thick alum 90deg pieces & 5200'd them on. Let dry for a few days then bolted them on also. Rebend some & drilled to line up with pole mount holes.
I did not have enough turf to cover it so a stuffed animal gave it's life for the greater good. RIP tigger. :dead1:
Used regular DAP weldwood to glue it on.
Good enough, ready for Daytona. :fest06:
