Greetings, Texas and traveling standup riders!

For those that don’t know me, I’ve been around the sport for a long time. I have promoted and helped with organizing multiple Lonestar free rides at Crystal Beach and Port Aransas. I have taken a backseat over the last 10+ years, raising my family and focusing on our business and other things.

I have recently gotten back into the sport and have felt the call to bring back our awesome Lonestar free rides aka LSFR.

My vision has always been to do this twice a year at two locations, Surfside and Port Aransas. It seems to work best when Port Aransas is the fall location and Surfside is held in the early spring.

That being said, I am creating this thread unless someone objects to me taking this on with a valid reason not to do so(Please PM me). I intend to organize a small event this November 2025 at Port A where I have verified recently that all the rules are still in place and Texas remains a free state for stand ups!

There are some exciting advancement to the facilities in that area like a potential host hotel, and the possibility of renting a large circus style tent for the event.

I have arranged for hoodies T-shirts, and possibly trucker hats to be made that are already in the design process.

I intend to do several things as I promote this event building up to a much larger event, hopefully at Surfside next spring.

Goals:

1. Bring back Fall and Spring events true to the spirit of the original with no entry fees, minimal rules and an environment for people of all ages, all perspectives coming together to enjoy our Sport freely as one.

2. Host a weekend event Nov 7-9 at Port Aransas beach.

3. Generate revenue to support the events 100% through marketing of merchandise with quality gear at reasonable prices.

4. Plan a bigger, better Surfside event for the spring sometime in early April 2026.

5. Repeat indefinitely

Please stay tuned and share your thoughts!

Someone mentioned the weather in November. Port Aransas is in the mid 70s through November and the water is warmer than the spring rides at the same temperature.

Weather is actually more calm and better chance of clean surf in Port Aransas in the fall. Regardless, that’s when I can set this up this time around.

@Penguin @smoofers please spread the word here and on FB!

Sounds good to me! although I will ride all year long, I got a wetsuit! ha ha
Where exactly do you ride in PortA? I have not taken my ski there yet and I was wondering the best area to launch from, away from the crowds for sure.
