Hi all
Picked up a 2001 SJ. From what I am told it is a 760, B-pipe. I wanted to go though it a bit and started with the carbs.
They are 38's and I assume the stock carbs, they have a 62T stamp on them. Besides the rebuild kits and primer kit I ordered new T-handles for both High and Low needles. I ordered the Yamaha version (as mikuni also makes a Kawasaki version of the needles as well) However the thread on the new Low needles were a very fine thread and would not screw into the carb. So I ordered the Kawasaki version of these needles and they fit perfect. Both high and low threaded in with no issues and actually the taper on the ends looked like an even better match then the Yamaha ones.
In the pictures below I have from left to right - Kawasaki version - The ones that were in there - The Yamaha version
They are marked with H for the highs and L for the Lows.
All of the Highs have the same thread but slightly different taper at the end, The Lows are the ones with the thread difference.
The Kawasaki ones are installed and work fine. But I am a little stumped on why they do and why the Yamaha ones were so different.
Wanted to run this by you all to see if anyone has seen this.
Thanks
