Super Jet Low needle thread difference

Hi all
Picked up a 2001 SJ. From what I am told it is a 760, B-pipe. I wanted to go though it a bit and started with the carbs.
They are 38's and I assume the stock carbs, they have a 62T stamp on them. Besides the rebuild kits and primer kit I ordered new T-handles for both High and Low needles. I ordered the Yamaha version (as mikuni also makes a Kawasaki version of the needles as well) However the thread on the new Low needles were a very fine thread and would not screw into the carb. So I ordered the Kawasaki version of these needles and they fit perfect. Both high and low threaded in with no issues and actually the taper on the ends looked like an even better match then the Yamaha ones.
In the pictures below I have from left to right - Kawasaki version - The ones that were in there - The Yamaha version
They are marked with H for the highs and L for the Lows.
All of the Highs have the same thread but slightly different taper at the end, The Lows are the ones with the thread difference.

The Kawasaki ones are installed and work fine. But I am a little stumped on why they do and why the Yamaha ones were so different.

Wanted to run this by you all to see if anyone has seen this.

Thanks

The T handle adjusters that you are ordering are not made by Mikuni, but are aftermarket adjusters, most likely by JetWorks.

There are 2 different versions of the dual 38 SJ carbs.

1. Dual 38s from 1996-2003 SuperJets and 62t 701 sitdown/couch models.
* These carbs have a 62t stamped on the side near the base.
* The high and low speed adjusters have a similiar coarse thread pitch
* Adjuster screwdriver flat heads are visible, but may be under stock plastic caps on high speed and limit caps on low speed which are easily removed.

2. Dual 38s from 2004-2020 Yamaha Super Jet carbs
* These carbs have a 64u stamped on the side near the base.
* The high and low speed adjusters have a different thread pitch from each other. The low speed adjuster has a much finer thread pitch.
* These adjusters are recessed into a longer tube on the carb body. There is a brass plug over the adjusters and painted over when new. After the plugs are removed, they adjusters are visible down in the tube and screwdriver flat head is very flat.

Thanks so much! That makes sense. Sounds like I just received the later model needles, needles for a 04-20.
I guess the question is, are the needles that I installed that seem to fit fine BUT labeled for Kawasaki the correct ones.
If you think these may be slightly different can I order the correct T-handles from you?
Thanks again!!

Does the needle tip and all the profiles in front of threads all the same?

We have the correct OEM Yamaha low speed T handles for 62t dual 38s in stock.

Thanks! it was just weird that the needles that actually fit were branded as "Kawasaki" needles. It does make sense now since the ski is a 2001 and I am assuming (but you know what assuming does) that these were the carbs from this ski. However the more I dig into this ski the more I realize it was probably quickly put together on Friday afternoons so they could ride on Saturday. Bolts missing, bolts too short, too long with a nut in between to shorten it, gasket sealer instead of gaskets, and so on....But its cleaning up and so far coming together nice.
Thanks!
