Hi everyone, about a year ago a buddy got me into stand ups and right after I purchased one he moved for work. After reading that riding alone thread and the thread within it, I want to be safe find some local guys I can learn and ride with. I know guys do a lot of riding up north towards oside but my buddy said guys launched off shelter island and hit up spots from there as well, a lot closer to me. Anyone still doing this in San Diego? Thanks!

I believe Oceanside is still the place to ride. Shelter Island to Point Loma is a decent spot, but lots of seaweed and you are far from anything if you get in trouble.
