Little bendix spring washers... 1, 2, ?

So Ive never really heard a definate answer on this one... the yamaha part diagram shows a washer against the flywheel cover then a spring then another washer that would make contact with the bendix....

My 2007 has a washer against the flywheel cover then the spring then nothing.... about 100% sure it came that way....

I dont see how having a washer on either side really helps.... I have a washer that would work on the bendix side if anyone can come up with a convincing arguement why it would actually be helpful... engine is apart at the moment...

maybe the outside washer would fall out and get chewed up anyways? maybe why they didnt put it on?

2 washers. The extra washer increases the compression in the spring, and also keeps it from getting bound against the front cover.

o ya the other washer usually gets stuck to the end of the bendix or in the cover i think,

my only guess is that it fell out when I put on my tbm flywheel last year... only time I ever had the cover off... and it definately wasnt in there when I took it off this year....

When I pulled my 2008 flywheel cover to install TL, there were to small washers with the spring in between. Only Yamaha had been in there before me. I would figure thats the way it was meant to be since it came this way from the factory.

well mine must have fallen off then somewhere along the lines unless it was an error from the factory... no biggie... I'm sure I have a SS washer around that's pretty close in size... good thing to get in there since I got the cover off already....

I don't think that they're S.S., just hardened steel.
2 washers is correct from Yamaha.
