Freestyle Light weight fly wheel

Looking into getting a new light weight flywheel or maybe just getting my stock lightened? Is it worth the extra $ to get a TBM,MSD or RIVA light weight flywheel? How much difference in exceleration is there from stock lightened vs TBM etc...

The TBM flywheel is pretty fragile. Their warranty is a fraud. Plus it only works consistently with the stock CDI or MSD enhancer. I think a lightened stock flywheel and a good CDI like ATP looks to be a better choice. Even my Advent was a decent CDI when using the lightened stock flywheel.

I've never been able to tell a power difference with a stock lightened flywheel.
Take that money and put it towards a good programmable ignition instead (ATP EPIC or ATP FLAME). Now there's a difference you can feel.

It is kinda like the small things you do on a stock class race ski. Each small piece adds to the package. Alone I do not think it is a big change.

In the surf when I had a limited setup I liked the stock flywheel, that rotational mass helped to keep the engine spun up when you needed hit after a jump.

Second generation TBM's work with the EPIC's as well. At least it does for me.

IMO, Lightweight flywheels are a finishing touch to a built up engine.

Haven't we been getting mixed reports on that one?

When I bought my 2nd generation TBM (direct from TBM) it was compatible with the Advent. I had two fail with a total of about 4 hours on them. My warranty was denied both times. Now TBM claims they are NOT compatible. After fighting it for 2 years, I finally stepped up to a MSD Total Loss. Took my time with the wiring and install and it has been 99% trouble free, with the only problems being poor quality work from JSS.

There were a couple first generation TBM's floating around that were causing the problems with the Epic's but they have been running fine since upgrading to 2nd gen TBM's.

Advents are still a problem on anything except an oem flywheel.
