I wanna put something on my 550for Freeriding. I'm new to this so I wanna weigh my options ans to whats most versitile, and functional.

Cheap is also good, but not as important.

didn't we just go through this last week around here somewhere?

cheap, quick, easy = windsurf straps

not so cheap, not so quick, not so easy = footholds and new turf

your call.

both work.
it was brushed over in another thread of mine. I searched and found little info on lifters. It looks like I'm ginna pull the jet trim mat and Hydroturf it to save my knees. so it's just a matter of which will work the best for my riding style ( or lack of). If I'm understanting them correctly, the idea of the lifters seems cool cuz they'll allow me leverage from many different foot positions.

But I could be wrong.

I had lifters on my SJ and my wife has them on her Octane. They do alright. Make sure that you use some stainless screws if you install them. They should work fine for what you will be doing. If you out grow them or just plain don't like them, they are cheap and easy to install.

I am not a big fan of the "bumps" that the jet trim mats have. It isn't enough to catch the side of your shoe. Just my 2 pennies.

I had a set of HT lifters on my SJ and they worked good, you need to wear shoes though. I tried them with just a thin pair of walmart water shoes and they KILLED my feet (they are way harder then they look) had to tear them off after an hour of riding. I dont know about screws to hold em on. I put them on with some nice contact cement, let em dry over night. They where on for an hour or two of riding when I decided to tear them off, I had to pry em up with a knife and the took a couple chunks of the stock mat with em...

I had the Jettrim mats with the lifters, they did ok for nose stabs...... nothing to get you inverted, but they worked pretty good for all around riding.........

I use lifters on my SXR to give extra grip for my feet............., not for jumping.........

I've been using APDesigns side mats with the Lifter bumps on my SXR. They have more edge than the jettrims (I had a set on my SJ until a couple years ago). The AP's are nice and grippy. I would say that for inverted riding footholds are the safest bet but if you are just playing around lifters will do just fine.

Wear shoes, like real shoes something with good padding on the top or you will be ripping them off in an hour.

Not sure, never seen them. I would assume they have decent padding on top. Ive only tried them barefoot and with some crappy walmart water shoes (real thin) and they hurt. I glued them back on last night, and tested em with some skate shoes and they felt great!
