When I get back from the Southern Fried Freeride I was going to returf my foot holds, the turf was getting pretty ripped up.

I started pulling the turf off the holds and notices the foot holds were wore through and crushed inn so I repaired the holds with foam an glass. :banghead:

Thank god I had the drain plugs installed in the hull I drained out just under a gallon of water.

On the lower chime across the back of the ski I epoxied a piece of 101 nylon 5/8” thick it accepts the ¼” pipe threads for the plug on each side of the hull.

if i ever refoam that is what i am gonna do......i guess they could be installed even without foaming if you think about it.

drill the holes.......punch the foam out at the very bottom of the strakes......then tap and install the caps.

I also have a channel system in the foam going across the ski from right to left and I have channels going down to the cross voids under each hull penetration.

i like the idea of being able to leave them open so the foam can air out when you arent riding.

When I foamed I also wrapped my exhaust tube with plastic wrap so the foam didn't stick to it. Now I can slide it out easily for inspection and airing things out.

I put my air hose in one drain and blow the entire tray channel system out with compressed air. You can also pressure test the tray to find any holes you may have missed.

well....i have been searching for small drain plugs but am having a hard time finding any that look good like the ones that come on sitdowns. I did find some stuff that would work at the hardware store. if i do a little defoaming at the very bottom of my strakes will i have any structural problems? probably only take out 3/4 of an inch of foam where it meets the very bottom of the hull......just a place for water to collect so that i can drain it back out.

Mine has not had any structural problems for 5 years now from my water channels.

Couldn't these be ordered from a Yamaha dealer and used?

where did you get the stuff that is glued on the inside of the hull that you taped into for the drain plug?
