The air temperature tody was about 55-60° when I rode today and the water temperature is around 60°. I have a 3/2mm wetsuit and I was hot enough at the end of the ride to jump back in the water to cool off for a little bit. My wetsuit is really tight and I'm usually out of breath just walking down to my dock. However, once it's wet, it stretches a little more so I don't lose a lot of movement.

For the record, I'm in good shape and I HATE the cold so don't get the impression that I'm some out of shape northerner that can tough out the cold. My house is at 75 and I'm debating putting on a jacket.

I woud look for dry suit. I'm diver and difference between dry and wet suits - is day and night. I never used one for riding. My diving suit is crushed neopren, not a shell.

Where do I look for something like that?

Aaron

Look for good quality surf suits.
I am using an O'Neill F-Bomb 4/3 and am very happy.
I have used two thinner wetsuits in the past and can tell you that option is colder and less comfortable than one good quality cold water suit.

I have used drysuits in the past and didn't care for them personally. I prefer the feel of a Wetsuit.

Just make sure you get one with nylon-liner on both sides. Sometimes the surf-suites are "raw neopren" on the outside, they don't hold up at all! I use a NPX Assassin semidry, works well also.

if you got the money anything over a 3/2 id switch to a dry suit. you wont get the stiff feeling like a thicker wetsuit. plus you can feel totally comfortable in a drysuit at the point when the water spashes on your boat and freezes. just add fleece or under armor layers as you want. my .02

Long sleeve rash guard under a wetsuit of your choice......

i wear under armor long sleeve shirt and pants under my wetsuit. it works really well in the cold. finally got a nice 3/2 suit though. i have been wearing crap suits for the last couple years-these guys are right the crap suits don't compare to the quality of a good suit.

My 4/3 Surf suit is just as flexible as my old 3/2 Slippery Matrix. And I can swim & move better than in a dry suit. :dunno:

How loose is your wetsuit that you're able to keep a long sleeve shirt on when putting on the wetsuit? I had a wetsuit kind of like that once. I ended up giving it away because all it did was keep the wind off me and warm the water in the suit when I wasn't touching water.

i have to hold the rash guard with a few fingers while sliding my arm through the suit. its not as loose as what you are saying. its actually pretty difficult to get the suit on over the under armor.

Underarmour under a wetsuit helps a little. I sometimes will wear my flight jacket over my suit to add just a little more insulation. Every little bit helps.

Yep, same here.
I do not wear the rash guard that much, however this will be my first winter hitting the surf so I might have to...
I used to surf with it, but with jet skiing you are constantly moving so I have not feel the need to wear it.....
