Surfriding launching through the boat ramp and no-wake zone vs straight through the beach?

I was at the beach the other day. That side has no lifeguards on duty and no people laying around, part of it is designated for kite surfers. Lots of kite guys, lots of waves, wind and fun. Sadly it is prohibited to launch any motorized vessels through the beach line as everywhere else. The only way is through the boat ramp and no wake zone which is 2+ miles away and by the time you get to the open ocean, half tank is gone. I was wondering what is the point to go all the way through the boat ramps if I can get to the same point in the ocean through the 100ft of beach side which would take 2-3 minutes with a beach dolly and I would not hurt anyone by dragging the ski?

I would ask if you can launch with the beach dolly. I know Hunting Island in SC let us even though it said no motorized vehicles. However, if they do let you, you still have to watch out for the shoreline idle distance.

The thing is that part of the beach is completely unattended besides the kite surfers and there is no authority to ask. There is only a sign saying who is allowed and who is not. Even though when I ask lifeguards they always like to say NO just to be on the safe side and avoid any responsibility :(...
I guess Ill give it a try.. first need to buy a dolly though.. :))

I always wondered this too...we used one few times during big waves at our local beach...after they close the swim area... and the pigs said some crap about it.....and I was like "it says legal in all 50 states right on it".

He let it go but he always had me wondering.

I live blocks from the beach, but have to put in at a boat ramp or causeway and make the long journey... sucks but it is the local ordinance. There are a couple beaches I thought of trying to launch and pleading for forgiveness if stopped.

I would go ask the kite surfing guys if it's ok. They're the ones who would turn you in if anyone does, sounds like it's their beach more or less, ask them.

I have renegade beachcart launched/surf rode well over 30times in many different locations, and the only problem I ever had was with surfers. If the beach is isolated from ppl who would complain about noise, then you should not have a problem. Real police have much better things to do then enforcing boat launch ordinances. Normally the only time they get involved is if they get complaints. Set your ski up so its quiet, dont go with 10 other skis, and tread lightly. Should be fine. YMMV though.
