here's a pic of the tropicana hotel + casino from one of the side road's off the strip.
in-between there two towers is there world famous bar pool that has just re-opened for the summer heat, which is strating up here.

it was 84' here yesterday !!!
62' for a low !!!

lake mead is still low, but the new by-pass bridge constrution looks to be running smoothly now that they have had some good weather.

this pic in not related to las vegas, but thought it is cool.
it's from about 5000 feet in the air from my seat in the virgin america airplane i was in flying back to las vegas last weekend.

it shows most of the sf bay area to coyote point, where i learned how to jetski.

i had my best friend john come into town this week.
we went up the river from willow beach to the bottom of the hoover dam on wed july 8th.

we did a toast for a person who is + always will be our jetski father, chuck coyler.
he has passed away.
may he win many race's up there in the heavans.

that is a freaking killer ride !!!
there's a area up in a gorge thats right near the dam that has had a damed up hot spring.
it has HOT water coming out of the side of the hill.

we rode up to that cove-gorge, and there was a rental boat stuck up the cove about 5 feet above the river water level.
there was a couple on vacation-holiday with 2 kids and a reantal boat.
they got stuck in that gorge for almost 24hours because the hoover dam stop release'g water's down the river.
the rangers stated they could not do anything for them until the river water's was released and starting riase'g agaoin from the dam.
me + john helped push that reantal boat out.
they were so happy to out of there !!!

if you heading to las vegas or to the hoover dam with your jetski's you got to try this ride.
it's only open to jetski's from memorial day to labor day, so if you try this around wf's time you won't be able to go up it.

i did a google on "willow beach az" and it comes up with a web site for the boat ramp too.

fyi, i did run out of gas on the way back, so if you go up be aware that it's about 12 miles up to the dam from the boat ramp.

Gorilla, what's the name of that launch ramp at Willow Beach? (I have limited internet access). I'm in Vegas for the week and am wanting to try something new. Usually we spend our time at Lake Mead, but those pictures make it seem worth it to try that ride out. Thanks.

Thats a actual house that someone had built. There is a spanish family that lives in there now.
I got a call from them one time a few years ago. They wanted me to come out and do a estimate to fix the 65 or so bullet holes in the fiberglass panels.:bigeyes: I passed on the Job...lol

On another note... How did you get so close as to see the backside of the damn. I was there this spring and they have that huge sign hanging over the river right before the dam saying to not go past. But I did see a couple peeps on Hondas down around the corner, but I didnt want to break the law and get busted or something.

Obviously you must of went past it!

i think there was a sign on the river.

way back in the days would ride up the river on monday after the finals to that little canyon where that guy got his boat stuck.
we would park our ski's there and climb up about a 1/4 mile up that canyon.
there is a stream of hot spring water that comes out of the mountain there and fills up the stream like a hot spring.
some years we would go there + there would be a man made dam there that would make it like a 3 foot deep hot spring.

the old days were the kind !!!
wish i could re-live those days again !!!
