Kommander Industries BOB Build Thread....

This is a pretty new product in the watercraft industry. There are a couple of model specific kits out now, but they were originally used on snow mobiles.

There is a hydrophobic membrane similar to (but not the same as) the outer wares on aftermarket flame arrestors. You can hold them under the faucet and no water comes through, and Chad cut the bottom off a bowl and put the frogskin on it and the bowl held the water just fine. Water will come through under significant pressure, but it does very well for what I am using them for.

I will get Chad to post here and tell you more about it.

" I'm stoked on the FrogSkinz so far. "

Are theses some type of hydrophobic membrane or just screens with fine mesh ? They could solve a few problems for me if they work. Anybody else use them ?

Gonna find out.l bought a set for the Stunt hole.l thought l would put them on the bottom of the rear of the hood, but l noticed Ross C has his higher on the rear.

Ross, there is no inner liner in these Stunt hoods,so if l cut two holes at the rear l'm allowing water to come directly in.But then again, you really don't get a lot of water intrusion in the rear of the hood.Any thoughts? other than risky.

Most aftermarket hood only have intakes in the rear, and water does get in. The idea of not having a baffle/liner system really baffles me.

Yes, you will get water in from the rear.

I would be careful how much you rely on the frogskin. I would definately not use them anywhere that is exposed to sunlight. You can push snow through these. They will tear super easy after they have seen a couple days sun.

That's what l thought, too.l was really trying to stay away from putting tubes in and then trying to navigate them down into the hull.l'm not cutting anything until l see how it will run w/o the holes in the hood first.
And your other statement about not having a a baffle/liner system.l got two words for you:highroller and stunt!!!!

Also interesting what rkm posted.l can diff put a hole in one!

Working on the review now...will post in the general section.

Re Frogskinz. All totaled so far I've 15 or so rides with this boat, and it spent two days in Blythe in direct sunlight and they are still holding up well where I have them placed. I can't say how much water they are stopping, but if they will hold water in a bowl I'm sure they are keeping some water out of the hood.

I can't really give you any advice for using it on the stunt hood...and I don't really have any way to test how well it flows air. But so far I'm happy with them.
