Since there is not very many race ski builds on here I'd figure I would post my build for this winter. This is my 2018 Kommander GP1 with a Kawasaki 800 and Skat 142. This is one of the only ones built with an 800 to my knowledge. This winter I'm planning on dropping a 1500 Kawi into it, which should not be super difficult once I can find a good donor ski. I will have to drill new motor mounts as this one is set up for a Yamaha 1050. Which means most of my time will be spent just aligning the motor. I was able to find a low comp 15f for cheap that I picked up for a mock-up motor so I don't have to move around that massive engine with everything on it. I will not be running the 142 as I have a buddy that is wanting to trade his skat 145 for it. I have already done a few things since I picked it up. When I got it the pole wasn't perfectly straight, I have done a little bit of turf work, and new fuel lines, other than that I have hardly touched it. I have had the time to take it out to GPS it and to get a feel for the handling. I GPS it at 56mph, which is amazing for a stock 800 with a head but the amazing thing is how awesome it handled. Going from a Pro-am ski stock superjet that I have been racing for 4 years to this thing, its night and day. The superjet struggles at full throttle turning compared to this, you can turn it as hard as you want going full throttle and it doesn't care. It truly is the best handling skI i have ever ridden and i cant wait to see what it can do when I can get another 10mph out of it. I'm going to try to remember to update this as I get things done or problems arise.
