Other Kodak Playsport Zx5 Camera... Anyone use one?

My girl and I picked up one of these yesterday to take on our trip to Florida next month. We were looking for a cheaper waterproof camera to take snorkeling but the cheapest waterproof digital camera was around $300.00, a little out of our price range right now. This one is actually waterproof to 10', takes video and pictures, and has additional mounts you can buy. It was also only $129.99. I really want a Go Pro but I guess I will have to wait a little while longer for one of those, haha. Here is the link for it:

I have the 3 model and it works good. It doesn't have a wide angle lens on mine, but that's the only downfall. I've taken mine on the ski, look up my YouTube videos and you can see the quality there

I have the 3 model and it works good. It doesn't have a wide angle lens on mine, but that's the only downfall. I've taken mine on the ski, look up my YouTube videos and you can see the quality there

not having a wide angle lens may be a benefit. most vids made with go pro looks like all the riders in the vid are a mile away because of the lens.

X2 The availability of only a wide angle lens has been the downfall of the Go pro. With a wide angle lens, anything further than 10' away looks like it's a mile away. I've looked into the Kodak Play sport myself as an addition the wide angle Go pro. The depth perception in the Play sport footage posted by Mr. Bojangles looked good. (The shaky footage sucked but that's the camera man- Sorry Bojangles ha-ha!) Go pro may have solved this problem with the new HD2, as supposedly the HD2 has settings to adjust the lens to that of a regular camera. We'll have to compare narrow field HD2 footage to Kodak Play sport footage and see

Not a problem, I have been playing with mounts and such. On some of the videos, it's a suction cup mount, and on the helmet cam, it's Velcroed to my helmet. A screw would be better. I have better footage I never uploaded to YouTube because, well, it was boring. I think the shakiness was worked out in the newer models, but I think it's good for the cash. It's no go pro! Get a floating wrist strap, it's the best thing.

Oh and I forgot! It does actually work good under water too. I have taken alot of video and pictures underwater
Of the kids swimming and they come out great! It all depends on how clear the water is

I don't work on the Playsport products, but if any issues pop up please let me know...I'll do my best to find the right contact in the company and get it resolved for you if I can. Obviously try the standard customer service first (they're pretty good, at least for the products I deal with), but I wanted to let you know that there's an "inside man" floating around the X just in case...

Thanks!!! Always good to know someone on the inside. I actually am already having an issue... but I emailed support yesterday and I am waiting to hear back. I am pretty sure it is my computer and not the camera though. When I plug it in my computer does not see the camera as a camera, just as an external memory... hence I cannot download the equipped setup software. I will let you know if I get it resolved. Thanks again.

Thanks for the link. Yeah I tried this the day I bought it but my computer is just not recognizing the drives or camera. I sent the email yesterday morning so hopefully I will here something sometime today.

2 words GO PRO!!

best quality HD only $300 and multiple attachments I take it in the ocean jet sking, on the snow and surfing such a clear photo and easy to use , thing is a tank I can even sub my ski using the head attachment and it stays on , just use a leash to attach to life jacket
