Alright, its been a while since I posted last.... My furnace in the barn was broken for a while so I couldnt get much done. moving forward again. got everything reinforced, sides and nose. trim tube installed, shortened the stock pole, and cut the ******** out of a stock hood.

Im no pro like trinity but I had to cut and glass a stock hood to fit the ski. without a nose peice It had to be a lowered hood and this is a budget build for me so I went with a stocker. also had to cut the front of the hood down a couple inches because the area the pole mounts to is lowered.(one feature of the highroller hull) the pole mounting area is even with the hood seal.

The bucket and duct tape are just my forms, ill be removing them after glassing. Oh, I also put some flare in the back!:bananalama:

MD Diet!

I went on the Mountain Dew diet and lost some weight! I think its a good idea we will see:noevil:

I got 6 two liters to fit very easily in the sides. My plan is that they are lighter than foam, still have floatation and resistance. also used 2lb. foam. just need to glass in my footholds now.

Im not listing every little thing ive done hear just the notable things. just dont see the need to post about the things everyone has to do like body work.

I need to get more air in the engine compartment, I know everyone cuts the holes in the back of the hood bigger but is there an easy way to glass something over them so they dont take on alot of water? I dont have the front air holes anymore since I cut them out. would have glassed over them anyway.

give me some advise please....

Just weighed the hull. fully reinforced sides and nose, footholds, foam....


88lbs.! Im very happy with the outcome. My last stock hull was 120lbs. when I sold it. The fixed steering hood that I got from Dan weighs 22lbs. with the steering setup and bars, that has gotta be lighter than a stock hood, pole and steering setup! and its bullet proof. Dan has put it through hell and still no cracks.

so the entire hull, hood and steering without hydro turf and a little bit more fiberglass will weight 110lbs.:bigok:

My reinforced RN hull weighs 122lbs (hull only).

I'd say either one or both scales are broken. I cannot see how a 34lbs difference is possible in these hulls.

I put mostly extruded polystyrene foam in my ski - doesn't absorb water and quite a bit lighter than even 2lb foam.
There's about 1/4 vol of 3lb foam in there, too.

The bilge is reinforced with one layer carbon/kevlar, one layer carbon, one layer carbon/kevlar, no excess resin. Nothing on the bottom.
The back has the sides reinforced with mat/weave glass and a pretty good portion of resin.
Stock exhaust tube, blowsion one way and pvc pipe.
Back has 2 inches cut off.
And that's it.

I checked with a second scale today and came to 118-120lbs, so that's pretty consistent with the other scale.
I would be ecstatic if your hull really weighs in at 88lbs, but knowing what exactly is on my hull, I have a hard time picturing a 34lbs difference anywhere. :dunno:

88lbs is a good weight to have the bare hull at. really now what counts is your complete assembled dry weight. weighing the bare hull is really only good for finding out if your loosing weight. once you start assembling its hard to guess what the complete weight will be. at 88lbs you should be under the stock weight. good job.

its an aftermarket top deck is it not? we are going to glue my buddies ski back together today and i am going to weigh his bare hull. stock lightened oem hull fully reinforced and it should be right around 88 - 90 lbs.

looks good, can you switch between fix and pole setup easily? flat black kicks ass, best look for a ski IMO.

It will be as easy as changing a handlepole. just unbolt off one and bolt up the other. Im going to start with the pole first and get used to riding again, then try the fixed steering. I have a feeling I will like it fixed in the surf and pole on flat but who knows what I will end up liking the most.....
