how do kenny keepers work? i noticed they're only on the front of back, dont remember. i read off blowsion it kept the motor from twisting or something. it looks like it kind of just raises it. i dont know...

either way im buying some, just curious how they work and if it was front of back two:Banane01:

They keep the engine from moving too far, especially backward because the couplers can hit and slam the intermediate shaft rearward which can cause real problems.

Keepers don't keep the motor from going rearward. Only forward.

say if my motors aligned right now with shims, then i add the keepers. would they be totally out of alignment now?

You have to remove the bolts from the front motor mounts. The ones that bolt them to the hull. You place the Kenny Keepers over the mount, so it does not change the height/alignment of anything.

Kenny Keepers help save a lot of parts actually. Should you nose a backflip straight into the sand, they will prevent your motor from shifting forward. Saving motor mounts, gas tank, couplers, etc. (basically everything I broke on wed). Although I'm not sure you need them, since you never ride in the surf anyway .

Here's a picture I just took of the square nose.

You can see that they work by catching the bed plate.

No! they don't go under the mount, they bolt on top and only stop/ minimize engine movement to the front of the ski.

so instead of breaking something, you risk ripping out the hull inserts? I dont mean to bash the product, but it seems like thats what would happen if you did go fullon.

I'd say they are a must for a surf boat.

If they worked in an FX1 they would have saved me alot of :banghead:

Hulka you don't need em...

They work great. I wouldn't ride a boat without them. I still go through mounts but not nearly as many as i would if i didn't have them. And most people i know that run them haven't broken a mount since they put them in.

haha funny guy. i WILL get out there with you guys this time around once my boats up and running. thats a x-h20 member promise.

hopefully i will be able to go big like you guys and help push you guys further. look out o-side!!:Banane01:

Preston, lets make your trailer a double and you can swing by my place on your way out to o-side.

PEACE!!

runaway

I break stuff
I can't tell you how many times Kenny Keepers have saved my coupler/mounts. I actually have beat dents into my Kenny Keepers from the bedplates slamming into them.

So if you don't stick to your promise can we kick you off X-H2o so you'll stop wasting all your time asking how to mod your ski and actually start trying to ride it.

If you nosed the bottom hard enough to rip the hull inserts out your inserts would be the least of your problems.
