650/X-2 Kawi X2 pump question

Not very well versed in Kawi pumps...but is there suppose to be any front to back movement of the impeller?

Intake grate currently off of one of mine. I grabbed the driveshaft and forced it back and forth several times. Audible metallic 'clunk' when forced backwards. Movement was minimal - maybe 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. Is this what you're experiencing?

Yeah there some slop in them. They make more noise then a Yamaha 144

Ah ok, I’ll measure how much it’s moving but yes that’s what I was noticing...only ever messed with Yamaha pumps that don’t do that

Are you grabbing the driveshaft? The drive shaft will move,it floats between splines in impeller and coupler at back of motor. However ,if you're grabbing the prop itself,that should not move fore and aft at all.

The pumps out and the impeller moves frontto back about 1/4inch...rebuild time?

Ok well that settles it...does it just need rebuilt or what else could be wrong? Before I tear it apart
