i just did this mod again on kris' wfx2 boat. its so easy.

just a little grinding on the both nozzles and its a direct bolt up.

its almost silly to not run one.

bk, ill look to see if i have any more. yesterday, i stopped looking once i found one. i may have another.

jfw, yes. this is a quick steer, only better, IMO. the threaded brass insert is in a little further than you can drill a (non-threaded insert) hole in the oem SJ nozzle.

the only necessary grinding on the nozzle is on the pivot points, to make the area 'thinner' than the 2 swivel 'sleeves', that the 2 bolts go through. there a little necessry grinding on the pump to clear the cable. this is on the bottom of the right side cooling boss on the stator section of the pump. no more than 5 minutes total grinding. bolt it on and ride. the L/R extreme postion of the 650 nozzle is about 1" from either side of the pump cavity.

nube, youre welcome.

k, let me know!

i just looked and it looks like i only have some 750 nozzles, which are different. the only one i have left is still on our X2. id give you one if i had an extra. they can be had for cheap though.

here are a couple of pics.

the one installed on my ski is from an x2. it has a much shorter 'arm'.

the one im holding above my ski is from either a 650 sx or 750ss couch.... probably from a couch. it has a much longer 'arm'. it could probably be drilled and nutted for a quicker ratio. id just go with the x2 nozzle though.

btw, this is an x2 steering nozzle. im not sure if the 650sx will work or not.

It won't. An X2 steering nozzle is much wider than a regular sx nozzle. Rough measurements show the X2 nozzle is 125mm wide at the mount and the sx nozzle is 100mm wide.

edit: Let me do some research on this a bit more... The SJ pump nozzle mount distance is only 100mm as well so maybe it will work. Makes me curious how the X2 nozzle is working then. I've got all the parts in the garage so I'll post up what I find in a bit.

I had this setup and it was almost full throw with an fx1 pole and cable! Here are some pics of when I made and extended one. I can't find pics of it finished or the nozzle. THe way the nozzle flairs out gives tons more throw qithout binding.
