From what I have read so far, the Pro had the motor moved forward a bit.
Don't know yet if it was done by using a different bed plate or if the motor mount locations were moved.

Once you pipe it, call Dave at Impros for a suggestion on a prop. People are gonna tell you to junk the handlepole, but if you are just going to run buoys
you'll be fine, once you get used to the weight of the pole. Get the head milled if you want to bump compression a bit without spending too much $$. A decent grate (top loader type) and a Worx Dominator plate(extended) will help keep the nose down, as Pros are really prone to porpoising.

I miss the handling aspects of my Kawi, if I ran across a deal I'd pick one up as a 3rd standup.

I love my sxi-pro..., I did the above bold (and more), that's good advise. I think for the $60, the timing advance plate made a good improvement in low end pop. It's an easy job, especially if you have the motor out. I did mine with the motor in the boat. Note- I believe I have the Skat Trak 9-17 Big Hub impeller, per Dave's advise.

If I open up the front, how can I tell the timing hasn't been messed with already ?
Right now the motor if drying (fresh paint all over) but should be dry soon.

My plan is to have it in the water by the weekend (as long as I can get the needed gaskets by then) and than once it warms up some, I'll stick the wife on the boat. If she likes it than it will stay mostly stock.

Your's most likely all stock. There is a square timing component attached to the inside of the flywheel cover this is the component that is relocated a few degrees, i believe clockwise, per the plate which is sandwich between the two. I hope this makes some sort of sence.

the grabber green engine paint is available at carquest or napa.

That Grabber Green isn't a perfect match for stock but it sure does look better. Day-Glo 80's are in force.

BTW, picked up the only 2 cans Napa had and the third I scored from AutoZone. It's a RUST-OLEUM engine enamel and is a perfect match for the DUPLICOLOR stuff.

Got the motor all nice and purdy, cleaned up the bilge to like new, cleaned out the gas tank,.................................
Time to assemble, right ?
Wrong.
The water box is swiss cheese.
Shait.

Seams that Kawasaki and Yamaha have something in common. Both think that stickers over holes in the bulkhead will keep the foam dry.
Lucky mine is but what a stupid idea.
