I just turfed mine today. For a quickie job with footholds I've never turfed before from sheet, it was pretty quick - 4 hours from beginning to end.

These are Watercraft Factory with 25mm underpad.

You'll do fine, just remember to whack it with a rubber mallet too.

When you say you used 25mm underpad, where exactly did you use the underpad? Did you use it under your foot in the foot well and on top of your foot? Specifics would be great. Just got my kit in the mail and will probably be turfing by next week.

I rode my buddies ski this last weekend. He has the exact same kit I am going to be installing. It is the wammer rickters with the pre cut turf kit. He used the 8mm padding they provided. When I was riding his ski it felt like my toes didn't have enough room but yet the further up my foot the wells felt loose. Anybody have suggestions to solve that?

I have Watercraft Factory, 25mm underpad shaved down to about 20mm on the bottom, 1 layer of turf on it, and 2 layers of turf on the top, no padding. I suggest going with 1 layer of turf on top/bottom with the underpad on bottom, ride it, see how loose you are, and add more if required.

im looking to foothold and returf my ski (02 sj) this winter. i was under the assumption that after glassing the footholds in, u just turf everything. whats all this about extra padding and mats under the top layer of turf? im clueless, i always need my hand held with crap like this. i just wanna ride lol.:17:

The stock Yamaha mats are plushy, go with hydroturf w/o padding and it is like kneeling on tile (hard on the knees). The key factor for the big f/s riders, especially surf, is the thick padding provides extra shock absorption (esp. on back flips).
