Just bought an SXR

I owned an SXI Pro a few years ago (dry pipe, swirl, grate, plate, alloy pole, ada head etc)

I had a pretty bad accident that left me with a broken neck, back and nerve damage to my left shoulder.

Sold the ski a couple of months later.

Fast forward to now and I've been getting the bug again.

Picked up an 05 SXR pretty yesterday. Has FP limited pipe and a few other small mods. At the moment I will probably just get a decent set of plug caps and leads, a primer kit and a TBM grate and see how it goes.

Happy for any other input for first mods, was thinking about shaving the head to bump up comp a little.

I mainly ride at the dam and like to carve though don't mind getting out in the surf every now and again ( I figure for surf riding I might just get a stock plate and 'd' cut it ).

G'day Guys, I'm in Australia.

I'm sure the stock boots are ok but want to go with the MSD leads, boots and plug locking system for peace of mind.
Hopefully taking it out today for it's first run

First time out went well. Was a bit of a prick to start without a primer.

I'm looking at getting a few parts from Blowsion including a primer kit but not sure if it comes with the extra parts to suit the SXR. If anyone knows that would be great otherwise I will contact them.

Ski was pretty boggy down low off the pipe so might have to do some fine tuning of the carbs/pipe screws.

Otherwise was very impressed by how well it turned for a stock ski

Also, having a look for the 3 screws on the pipe, I assume the bottom one is underneath where you cant see it (only feel it) and is a PITA to adjust?

So after pulling the head pipe off and adjusting the screws to 1/2 on low and high and closed on the middle I took the ski out for a decent run today.

Also fitted a pole limiting rope, primer, TBM grate, and dismantled the carbs for a quick clean and to double check the mixtures were as per FP's recommendations.

Ski feels heaps better than before and felt like I was getting a handle on it.

Pretty happy with it!

Me and a mate were out on the ski (me on Sxi pro him on Sxi). I crashed in front of him and he ran into me. I was knocked out floating for a few secs till he got to me and pulled my head out of the water.
