300/440/550 JS550 bogging out, seems like water box is full?

well I can tell you that you have the stock 550 bread basket exhaust, and that in the first pic you are missing the line on the very back, and thats suposed to go to the pisser. you should have a line from the hull to under the manifold, then the one from the head to where you have it, and the other one on the back to the pisser. Dont forget to get a cover for your drivshaft too! once you start getting crazy, all the water will get flung around and possibly sucked up in the intake

Well guys, once T'd in a hose from the rear fitting into the cooling system the problem is 100% fixed. I was really low on fuel, and once i filled her up I ran all day Saturday with zero issues. Actually it runs amazing. Ran 5 gallons thru it this weekend without any troubles. I haven't re-routed the fuel lines yet either, and I know I have to cover the output shaft ASAP..

I am really happy with my progression on this thing from at first hardly being able to ride, now I am doing some skid turns and having a lot of fun. There is a slalom ski course on my lake which is really helping me with the L/R turn transitions... Time to go get some more fuel today :woot:

Lesson learned!

Well, you guys called it out and I learned the hard way (coulda been worse)... SO I strapped down my tank and water box but failed to notice my battery was not strapped... I have been tossing this thing around more and more and guess what... The battery flew into the driveshaft which had no cover, and the wires got all tore up lol.... I fixed it all in about 10 minutes but I still need to get a cover for the shaft... Time to make a custom stainless piece I guess :bad3:

im a rookie

ok guys im a honda 250r guy with a story similar to this thread i just acquired a js 550 im not sure of the year but this machine has a lot of parts on it it has a westcoast pipe and aftermarket exhaust manifold and aftermarket intake it was a basket case when i got it and i have it back togedther but i have no clue where to start with the cooling line routing and im starting from scratch....i believe it is set up for dual cooling but im not sure there is one line that is ran from from the firewall to the manifold other than that i have no clue if i could get some pictures i would be very appreciative.... there is a total of three nipples on the pipe where do they go? also there is two nipples on the head which goes where? and there is a pisser on it but line is supposed to run into it? anything will help!!!

water enters the manifold and exits the head.

if you have dual cooling you will probably have two in to the mani two out the head.

then you need one hose from the head to the pipe and the other likley goes to a piser.

Jetski2.jpgthe nipple on the exhost pipe is tyhe pisser line it should have water flowing out of it any time your ski is running and in the water and it should be routed out of the ski if you are not getting water flowing out of it that would be the cause of your issue. it is called a pisser because it puts out a stream of hot water like a someone pissing

I would also like to note that the latch that holds your hood down is also for holding your pole up, there are notches in the hinge for this. if you just toss it in the hull you could short that battery out:dead1:
