300/440/550 >>>>> Js 550 Cooling Questions <<<<<

My Roomate gave me this ski. I'm not sure what engine is in it. It has alot of WestCoast parts on it. When I got it, all the parts were in boxes. after slapping it all together I took it out and noticed quickly that it wasn't pissing. I killed the engine and had a buddy tow me in.

The Engine got hot but didnt sieze. All the cooling lines got hot and melted. (Used home depot hose dont think that was smart)

I checked and there is good compression in each cylinder. (see picture)

I'm thinking that the lines were not routed the correct way. there are alot of ports. Does this setup look familiar to anyone?

Any cooling line routing suggestions? Sorry if theese are newbie questions.

does your hull have dual cooling and the motor is a 550 reed motor. the lines from the pump you need to make sure they are not closed. i will get you the routing of my lines and you can see if that will help

head one line in one out to pisser one to pipe exhaust manifold i ran both to one line from pump then pipe to pipe with a t out to pisser but mine is dual cooled

Thanks for the info.. My hull is single cooling.. Is the best way to check the lines with compressed air?

unplug both sides, try to blow and see if air comes out the other end.
if it does not, you have something plugged in there.

if it does, plug the other end, try blowing again.
if air comes out again, you obviously have a cut in the hose somewhere.

also take a pic of the back of your pump. i had a very small slit in the rubber hose back there, and it caused my 550 not to spit.
