Jetski injuries?

Fox

God im so pants at skiing
I was just wondering has anyone ever been injured by sharks atall as a lot of stunts are done at very slow speeds and flying into the water off your ski? I know surfers have been attacked in the past but do the skis keep the sharks away?

Also what kinda injuries have you all suffered? Just interested! :crutches: :crutches:

busted shin, ankle, and chin...... i wouldnt expect a shark to go out of its way to get near an extremly loud fast moving object that shoots a water jet out the back, but i could be wrong.

Four of us were out on the lake on the fourth of july. Found a guy who seemed very willing to keep his wakeboard at a slow enough speed to give the most wake and just let us have at it, his younger boys were siked on seeing us catch air. Well, four standups trying to get as much wake as possible is going to end up bad.

There was a collision, one superjet straight into the other guys thigh. Thought we had a broken femur. Tons of boats, police, trying to call in a life flight, was just hectic. Ended up being some massive bruising, probably some muscle damage and who knows what else at this point. Still waiting on the swelling to go down. Basically his thigh was almost twice his normal size and the skin was taught all the way around two days later.

Watch yourself fellas...

ouch i hope that guy is ok. Most serious jet ski injuries would occur from collisions and there is probably the least risk of shark attacks. YOu are more likely to get struck by lightening or win the lotto than get bite. Depends on your area i guess, no worries here in michigan.

Most of my pain has been my shins, elbows and knees. Just scrapes and bruises; no stitches yet:biggthumpup:

Oh, and dont forget the massive pain in the wallet!:banghead:

Got "tasted" once during a nor'easter. I'm sure it was by mistake because the water was like chocolate milk from the storm churn. I stopped to talk to another rider and was standing behind my ski in chest deep water when it hit/bit my knee. It tore a little hole in my wet suit and bruised my knee........thank god for the old school jet pilot suits with heavy urethane knee pads!!

Watched a long documentation on sharks on the Discovery channel. Turns out sharks are actually ATTRACTED to noise, not scared off by it  They said that most shark attacks on are overcast, cloudy days when the water is really murky. Great thing I ride in the Texas Gulf where it's murky as hell :banghead::banghead:

As far as injuries - cracked the hell outta my knee a few times. Last time I did that it swoll up enough that you couldn't see where my knee ended and where my quad began. Bruised ego most of the time though.

Being attracted to noise and actually attacking a large motorized object are two totally different things. I'd be more scared of a retard on a couch than I would a whole school of sharks.

I was out jumping in the surf this week and some chick on a old Waveraider just about ran me over from behind. I normally prefer to ride when there's others around, but I waited for that one to leave before getting back out there.

Well yes, being attracted to and actually attacking are very two different things. However, think about if you wreck out and you're swimming back to your ski - if a shark has already been attracted to the area and then sees something floundering above it, it could up the possibility of an attack. And I'm sure if you have your legs hanging off the back of the ski getting back on plane could surely look like some type of meal to a shark.

But regardless, the actual chance is very slim. Call me an optimistic realist, but that stuff is always in the back of my mind when I'm in the surf. I don't think it will happen, but I know there is always the possibility.

I ride in the most populated shark waters in the US... There are actually more shark bites in Volusia county than anywhere in the world... With that said, No, I have not been attacked, but I do see them all the time and have hit them on a few occasions. Once I hit a hammer head while cruising... he was obviously checking me out cause he came from the side into me.... I'm afraid of running into one underwater (ie. underrotated flip)... that would suck!!!!
