So I'm in the market for some nice freestyle gloves. I like my buddies jet pilot full finger 1mm gloves for dexterity, but they seem lacking in warmth and ability to hold up to abuse.

Anybody try these phantom kind? Are they any better?

I picked up a set of the first ones at the beginning of last season and by the end of the season they were toast, but I did ride quite a bit.

I own a set of the first ones and I really like them. I use them when I ride in the early spring and late fall and they help with the cold, but there are probably warmer ones out there. Mine seem to be holding up fine on my second season with them, but I don't wear them a whole lot.

gloves always been a issue for me, seems like none are made well anymore. i had the jetpilot gloves(first pic) they fit well etc, but lasted only a few rides before ripping apart. i bought a set of jettribe gloves (carbon knuckle) about 2 months ago, they have been the best set of gloves i have used. they are holding up great so far to the dasa 10mil.....(grips are another story though) lol

I use slalom waterski gloves with good results so far. I like them for the wrist support and the palms aren't thin like most gloves I've seen.

as an avid waterskier as well i have a problem using waterski gloves because of that added support..waterski gloves are purpose built to help you "lock in" with the bar and hold on as it tries to rip itself out of your hands at every turn.. the reason the wrist is not as flexible is in order to turn your entire forearm into a "bar" with the only weak point being your fingers..think of it, ther isnt much wrist movement on a slalom waterski its all straight pull stuff.

i have found this doesnt translate well to using a monving handlebar, specially when you consider the ever changing position of body, arm, weight distribution.

so yes, they are by far the most resiliant gloves to palm tears and abuse in the grip department but personally i hate them for jetski use..

another perfect example is this...i'd never dream of using my street bike track gloves on a dirtbike..again no freedom of movement in the writst, not like a dirbike glove.

in the end..its a personal preference thing i guess..i've also done the cheapy "mechanics" gloves, they blow apart but cost next to nothing in home hardware ;-) mind you no warmth factor there.

I love Jet Pilot Gloves, IMO they are the best for our sport, great fit and most important is there perfect thickness. However as mentioned they don't last long, ESPECIALLY the all black ones. Not sure why the all Black seem to fall apart quickly, but the last two pairs I ordered where the Black/Blue combo which seem to last 2-3 times as long as the all Black.
