it's not even an "apple turn-over"

Been doing a little thread searching, but have come up empty so far. Got a ski that ran fine until I jumped one wake and the ski died like a light switch was flipped. Ski had started and stopped without problem several times right before. When trying to start there's is absolutely nothing. No clicks, no spark, no turn over. Here's my morning:

1 All loose connections ruled out.
2 Start/Stop switch checks out with Ohm meter.
3 Battery has full charge.
4 Jumped relay and ski turns over fine.
5 Installed back-up relay, ski will still not turn over.
6 Installed back-up Start/Stop switch and...no turn over.
7 Installed back-up whole ebox...no turn over.

Where do I go from here?

Run a jumper wire from the elect box grounds to a ground on the engine, then see if you have anything then and report back.

ran a wire from ebox ground to coupler cover bolt. No turn over with start/stop. Jumped relay again and ski wants to fire up and run.

have you considered just setting it on fire? :439:

seriously though.

I hav an Octane with a similar issue that is intermittant. I know where the problem lies, and even replacing the part doesnt always fix it. On mine, the internals on the switch itself just wont contact from time to time.

it's also possible that you have a contact in the plug for the switch that is pushed out/corroded/not making a connection for some crazy reason. I'd try looking there first.

Several assumptions were within this post. The greatest of those would be that I'm competent to read a wiring schematic...STEEERIKE one! Second would be that if I had to guess on a 50/50 choice that I'd make the right guess....STEEERICK 2! It was almost strike 3 boys. I had called my boys Mcdog and JFW for advice without having them here to eyeball it. Luckily for me they have not wasted their time yet because I just diagnosed the malfunction...

My red lead from start stop switch was connected to the wrong terminal on the relay. I flipped the lead to the other relay terminal and it's good to go.

I started to ask that very thing as I see it happen quite often here, but when you said it was working fine then it wasn't and you also switched out elect boxes,it kinda threw me off.:dunce:

Good job dude, you posted at the same time I was typing lol. So I suppose STEEERIKE 3?

Well I guess it's STEEERIKE 3 now. Took the ski back out on the water. It started like a champ. Ran it about 3 minutes around the dock and bunny hopped a few wakes and tried a wide open run. I couldn't get it really to stretch out on the top end so I turned it back to the dock and it started to sputter and choke. I killed it with the S/S switch. Put it on the rack to look at it and now it won't start/click/turn over. Back to the starting block. I'm figuring it's another connection in the ebox. The bilge still runs fine so juice is flowing from a fresh batt.

JFW put the kiss of death on the maiden voyage by saying he couldn't believe it was going to run that well right off the ramp. Big thumbs up to John though...thanks for wasting the day helping me out. Tomorrow's another day.

I'm going back to the dugout and try to diagnose my ailing electronics.

Dayumn! We can't win for losing right now. I can't believe your still having trouble. Make sure it's not the engine before you rack your brain on the electrics again. Will it still jump across the relay?

Winner winner chicken dinner to John/JFW for helping me diagnose my ebox woes:skull2:. Nearly two days of struggle and cussing were ended with a simple solution. I tore that ebox apart 3 times :banghead:and changes every component out individually from battery to s/s switch to wiring to relay to rectifier to cdi and nothing would allow the ski to turn the starter, not even click the relay. It had ran fine prior to the tear down and even ran well yesterday for about 3 minutes (which is what was throwing me way off the trail of the culprit) then died since then until tonight at 8 pm...it's alive!:woot:

Lemme hear your answers in Jeopardy style response to what was the correct fix for this quandry:shrug:. Y'all may be alot smarter than me cuz I was...:deadhorse:I wouldn't have caught it without JFW's help:biggthumpup:. I just assumed the answer and was wrong:spankme:.
