I'm driving from Canada into the US,and luckly for me its 14.5 hours one way without including the time needed to cross the boarder. I don't think they even sell any SJ in canada this year. our local yamaha dealer looked at me like I had two heads when I asked if they were getting any SJ's in. I had to explain to him that it was a stand up, he thought that i was talking about one of the 3-D anchore things.

Don't feel bad. The dealership I went through looked at me the same way. It was the first sj sold by this particular sales person. People these days are just too damn lazy to learn how to ride a stand-up. Everything has to be instant!!!

Ya I know what you mean. There are a few people around my cabin that ask me why I don't get a normal jet-ski. I just shake my head and ask what cool stuff they can do on theirs that I can't do on mine, then I go on to tell them what I can do that they can't. the best part is that I offer for them to take it for a ride and most of them can't, and the ones that do get up just biff when they go to make the first turn, and I laugh.

Picked it up today and went riding with Adet. It is a blast to ride. I was surprised at how much power it had for a stock ski and the hook up is unreal. Zero cavitation unlike the older aluminum props. It is alot more predictable than a ski with tubbies and it is alot more nimble than the old sj. Kind of handles like an fx1 that hooks up and doesn't porpose until you lay it into a corner and it just carves effortlessly. The steering ratio is very slow but you don't notice it unless you are going slow like you would to come back and hit a setup wake. Setup wakes seem bigger and there is considerably more spray when you corner. You have to stand alot further up in the tray as it rides with the nose up alot more than the old sj. The only quirk to the handeling is it will swap ends violently if the pump unhooks in the middle of a corner, but to get it to do so you have to lay it down till the bars are in the water.

He said he refunded it to my credit card Friday. If it doesn't show up in my account this week I am going to be furious as I put that $500 on that card for my new ski and I don't want to pay interest on it. Talking with the guy from Hamilton he said that the other dealer never ordered the ski. They place their orders for the year in the fall. So this dickhead never had a ski for me he was just hanging on to my money hoping to trade with another dealer. I looked at the date when I gave him the deposite, September 13th.

I had a gut feeling he was screwing with you. Glad everything worked out in the end.

I put a deposit on one today!!! I wont be able to pick it up untill the begining of May. Out the door it will cost $6399, then when i bring it back over the boarder I will have to pay tax of $320, and it will be about $200 for gas there and back so, in total about $7000 after everything is all said and done. I can't wait to try her out.

ditch that bs trim crap and put a pre 08 nozzel on it...

It would be super easy to modify the nozzle for more throw and I don't think the cable would hit the pump but you might have to grind the nozzle. The turnplate has another hole that is farther out but the manual says not to use it. I had problems with my fx1 pole/cable on my square nose eating steering cables so I don't think I'm going to try it. Looking at the cable on the handpole end it is maxxed out as far as travel so a quick steering plate won't do you any good unless you get an older style handpole. For the price of a new handpole and steering cable you could get a bad ass trim system. I'm sure some one will come out with a cheaper/easy solution so I don't have to hack up my new ski. In the interim I'm going to put gas in it and ride.

move the pivot to the outside and just check your throw, make sure you are getting full throw and not binding. if it is clear then you are ok. congrats.

i dont have one in front of me but the nozzel that comes on the 08 cant give you the same amount of throw as the pre08s..compare the two for yourself..and a handlepole is a much better investment than a trim nozzel on an otherwise stock ski..i dont understand the facination with a trim system unless you can backflip on flatwater..all they do is limit your steering throw which imo is much more important than trim....

what that guy said :)

if I bought an 08 tomorrow here is what I would do to it:

cut or change pole with straight bars/quicksteer/grips
scoop grate
footholds/turf
bilge pump with rotary switch

thats IT

yamaha has made some pretty good improvements...and you said you already noticed how much power it had for a stocker..

couple of handling mods..none of which will void your warranty....

rock it for a year, then mod to taste :headbang:

Is there a quick steer for it yet?
Why the rotary switch? I am about to pick up my SJ and start the mods that you said plus i was lookin at putting an impeller on and makin a few different ride plates with sized D cuts.
