I have a westcoast head on mine. My comp with 26cc domes and a .55 gasket was 165. My friend made me a .16 gasket out of copper for it. Trying to see if it will but over 180. We are going to check the squish tomorrow b4.

i'm running straight 110 octane if i hit over 190

After you ride it hard for a little while with the new gasket. Re-torque the head. The gasket will compress slightly after one ride.

Make sure to use a Yamaha OEM gasket.
No aftermarkets ones!
.010 won't really do much. Will help tighten up the squish a little though....
A stock head is 34cc's, so milling .010 will gain you about 1.3 cc = 32.7cc head, so not much, you need at least 3 cc's to really do any good.
Save for an ADA head and you'll be way better in the future.

^^ Thanx everyone!!

have a question about it.....when i removed my head and gasket a while back....there is a little metal thing held in with a screw in the center of the 2 pistons....is that a colling thing/part??? it was loose and i tried to snug her down and she broke...was very soft metal....looked like the head gasket holds it down...

What is that part?.....I broke mine and just snugged down the screw with out the peice...

now my head gets real hot real fast....so its cooling im sure

^where can i grab a new one?
what do i tork the head bolts down to again?

Thanx all

Marc

GASKETS FOR CHAMP BRAP!
Marc,
That is a sacrificial zinc anode.
Instead of water corroding the cooling ports in your cylinder it attacks the zinc anode.

You can get another one at a dealer or I'm sure someone will have a used on on here...
