Is that 5200 that holds all of the hardware and engine plate assembly? Does he use it also to bond the hull and deck together?

Your comparing a pre-preg hull vs a hand layed hull. Of course one is gonna be lighter than the other and cost quite a bit more. Just like comparing carbon vs a glass hull:dunno:

I'm not sure what all he used 5200 for on Tom's hull, but I know for a fact that he uses Plexus adhesive to bond hulls and decks. And on other hulls I've seen him use Plexus to glue the bedplate, gas tank pods, etc. With him it's whatever the customer wants

Plexis is used for bonding, 5200 for sealing the edges. Its only $1000-1500 more than a your glass hull, (I'm sorry I don't know the exact cost of your hull and hood), 35lbs lighter makes a very nice performance improvement, easily $1-1.5k worth. If im gonna spend money on an aftermarket hull it needs to have an advantage over a reinforced oem hull. 1. Personally I ride flatwater and need the lighter hull to get me out of the water, I don't need a heavily reinforced hull 2. this hull allows me to run my 66e motor. 3. it doesnt' look like a superjet. I mainly posted the pic to prove that there are different levels of Jeff's hull and I feel the quality of prepreg fiberglass is superior over wet layed up hulls.

I agree that you guys are both competent hull builders, just each buyer has a different goals and wants in a hull. You should respect the judgement and choices of each buyer, not bash them.

See you guys in daytona, that is if my pvc exhaust doesnt' fail.

I think once WCF starts doing an infussion process the hull weights will drop significantly. 100lbs is not that bad, I know my reinforced squarenose hull weight 150 lbs+ w/ hood. I rode NJFL's WCF hull and it was pretty sweet..........lightweight is definatly just as addicting as power  For some reason my hull just handles allot different than a roundnose so that threw me off quite a bit, but you could get some nice hang time on that boat for sure, and allot more responsive in the air.

When i weighed my hull while building the squarenose just the hull was 100lbs. No foam, footholds, paint fitting ect......bare arse hull.

Hey Tom, not bashing here!! just making some comparisons. I'm glad you like your hull and want the ultimate in lightweight+horsepower. I hope you get to test your hull in the surf and put it thru it's paces. Maybe you should let Pete (Pancaker) use it for a few months!:Banane01:

Why? He said he rides flatwater, why is he testing it in the surf?

Maybe you didn't understand my quote, Its not a surf hull, it was built to light and get me out of the water on our choppy wind waves. If I was building a surf hull, jeff could have gone thicker on the prepreg and made it more durable (but of course, it'd still be lighter). My current hull would break in Pete conditions (Pete can punish a hull, no doubt) , but it would perform better and last longer than a lightweight "wet laid" hull. I was told Pancaker's hull was around 125-130lb hull/hood, over double the weight of mine. His wont break, but it'll never perform like a lightweight hull (or any different than a heavily reinforced oem hull) I perfer the feel of a lightweight hull to any other hull and since I don't surf ride it fits my need. You filled pete's need by putting an extra 60lbs of resin and cloth in it. Different needs for different customers.

IMO,There is less technology in a wet laid hull than an oem hull. The only advantage i can see is you can lay it up thick for durability.

I still appreciate that you build parts for our sport, don't get me wrong. Everytime wf and wd post pics of their product, it helps the buyer decide which way to go.

OOps!, forgot that you where only riding flat water. Yeah, Pete's boat is a bit overkill on the lay up ...but he's going on a second season with no problems:biggthumpup: :woot:

You're absolutly right Tom!:arms:  We all are here trying to make a living doing what we love most... building killer skis and promoting our sport!
I hope your going to Daytona...first round on me!:beerchug:
