This f**king impeller that's on my pump is so f**king stuck that it broke my f**king bench vise!!!!!!

I went to re-tighten my vise after the spline holder popped loose when I cranked on it with the cheater and one of the arms of my vise broke right off. Way to go Kobalt. I've heated it until the grease is sizzling and smoke is coming off the housing, used a 3' cheater bar with vise grips, pipe wrench, box wrench, and adjustable wrench...nothing. Start burning some candles and singing chants for me. I'm about to explode!!! I"ll post pics under carnage tonight. I'm too mad to operate a camera right now.

SJ props are reverse threaded, I just had Art at jetworks remove two that were stuck for me. Art had me stand the pump on end and soak the hub on the props with WD-40 for 2 days before I brought them to him.

yeah, I'm turning righty-loosey. Just broke vice #2. I had a Kobalt and now just broke a Pony vise from Ace Hardware. I thought maybe mine was a POS and now I've got 2 POS's. Gonna hit it with some more penetrating lube and head to Mcdog's house to total out another vise.

i did the same thing about a month ago so i got a vise thats about the size of my bench! i had the screw the pump down to the table so it wouldent flex and used about a 7' bar lol! oh and i had to have dirty stand on the table too.. its a killer cause you can remove a kawi prop in about 5seconds .. anyway good luck

I just did swapped two impellers this weekend with a 7/8 box end and an 18" Rigid aluminum Pipe wrench. Both were put on with antiseize thankfully.

Well my vice survived but that prop wouldn't budge. The skat trak tool actually bit the big one first. Tried to torch it first but it didn't help. It's sitting with wd40 in the hub overnight and I'll try a few cycles of torch and ice and a new prop tool to see if it helps tomorrow.

Actually you're on the right track with the candles. Google 'candling stuck studs' and see what I'm talking about.
I've removed several impellers quite easily after getting wax in the threads with capillary action (like a copper sweat fitting).
Good luck.

I talked to one of our local Yamaha dealers and the mechanic I spoke with had no real advice to offer other than "You'll probably just ruin it an have to get another pump." Great advice from the OEM parts retailer. I haven't even priced out a new OEM pump, but I can imagine they'd rip your mouth out for a new one.

An old trick I learned may work in this situation. Do you have a pneumatic chisel? If so take the "V" tip and just rattle the hub with that for a minute or two to let the vibrations break some of the bondage up. I don't know if you can get something between the tip and hub to protect it and yet still transfer the vibration as well but it might work.

John at JSS uses an ultrasonic cleaning unit to get his great results, let the power of vibrations work for you too. :)
