If I remember right, the higher the number the more twist in the blade which is top end, and you get more surface contact on the blades. This is where higher horsepower is required. The lower the number, the less surface contact with the water which allows for higher revs...bottom end. Too much pitch will have a lot of cavitation and take a long time to get any speed, too little and the impeller will just spin but not throw much water plus over revving will happen. Am I right or backwards on that theory to anyone else that knows for sure? I haven't done the research in a long time so I think I forget lol.
