not talking about the freestyle pump cone, but the rubber boot cone one.

do you have to remove the impellor to install the aftermarket aluminum ones? i haven't bought one yet, but i might buy one. i dont really need it but i dont have the impellor tool to remove my prop so i dont want to go out and have to buy a bunch of parts i dont need...

can a loose rubber boot cause cavitation? like its not snug fit in. more like just sitting there towards the back from water passing over it.

you only need to remove the pump, not the impeller.

the one on my old ski came off completely and didnt cavitate in the least. it was a solas with a rubber boot. i doubt thats your cavitation problem.

Yup, you only have to pull the pump out and slide the old boot off the drive shaft and slide the new one back on. Thats if thats your problem. Make sure your seal is good and nothing else is wrong first.
