Anyone have any good ideas on how to mount the rule bilges, I normally just epoxy the blue holder to the hull. I'm just tired of having to replace these. Ideas anyone, Thanks M

Attwood pumps.

Barring that, get one of the black strainers, they are much stronger, and use 3M 5200 to glue it down instead, with 2 little dabs on the tabs to keep the pump secure.

werd... just bought two new Attwood 500's to replace the Rules that are in my SJ. One of them popped out of the bracket and the braket is toast. Both Rule's are gonna be soon too as far as I'm concerned... damn things air lock anyhow.

I bungee my bilge down and put some hydro-turf padding underneath it. Never had one break in 8 years. Its not quite as close to the bottom of your ski, but who cares. That is what scuppers are for.

Any Hot Products dealer can order the black base as well. They are listed as fuel resistant & are made of a glass-reinforced resin. Only one I will use now.

I take a piece of 1/4" thick nylon.tap 4 holes in it for the base.Silicone it down to the hull.it can be removed more easily yet I have only had one come loose because of gas.I also put an oring around the pump and it slips dowm between the pump and the tabs and keeps them tight and they won,t pop off.

Saying that I always have trouble with the rules sucking air and not working unless I turn them off and on again

The previous owner of my ski had a great idea, he took a piece of plastic, screwed on a worm gear clamp, screwed that piece into the midshaft housing and then put the bilge pump in the worm gear clamp. Work for all round bilge pumps, any size, been there for 11 years. The 360's have NO problem with airlock, they are great pumps, but a bit undersized.

Does anyone know if the 760's or 1100's airlock as well?

Im thinking too small an impeller for too much motor

Well, one thing it will help is if one quits you have the other, and also you dont need to have a huge pump hose to suit the 1100 it would take to equal two 500's, but Im considering an 1100.

I used fast cure 5200 for my blue base, no problems yet, and i broke my pole 2 times on BR attemps, and the 3rd time the collar broke into 2 pieces, and the pole with 2 layers of mat+epoxy was untouched.

I will never by a atwood pump, mine was way slow, and so was every other one I have seen. My Rule 500 pumps like a MOFO. Duals will get the water out twice as fast, I will go to duals, and not bother with a leaky scupper.

I dont like the huge size of the larger pumps.

My 2 cent

fixing the air-lock problem is EASY

loop your hose as normal and put a one-way/check valve at the top

with a one-way checkvalve, you could even put it below the waterline and get more pumping force outta the pump from it not having to push as far.

If you're taking on enough water to worry about whether two 500gph Attwoods will drain fast enough, then you really ought to be thinking of fitting a scupper. I used to run two 800gph Rules which pumped the ski out VERY fast, but they airlocked just like the 500's do. Switched to Attwoods and never looked back.
