I ride solo 90% of the time, its either that or not ride at all.

Same here. If the weather is getting crazy I will call a buddy and leave a float plan with them, but the rest of the time its free range ridin'. Pretty much nobody on my lake anymore this time of year.

half of the time i ride in the surf i'm alone, i just try and take it easy. I used to ride at Buena Vista do the rangers still watch you with their binoculars? they used to bust you if you did anything besides go in that circle. I always liked pyramid better is that open again yet?

I have been warned for a standing start from the dock on a busy day, for my son's g/f going too fast in the no wake zone, and for riding a couple minutes past closing time, but have never been ticketed. They don't seem to have any problem at all with my version of middle aged recreational freestyle; jumping wakes, hockey slides, turnsubs, hood rides (cough, yeah I know), etc.
They are not so crazy about speeding though. I think that is mostly what the binocs are about.

i rode last summer around this same time at a local lake, Milerton, and i was also the only one plus maybe 3 or 4 other boats that were nowhere to be seen. it was kinda weird, the weather was a little cloudy and the lake was completey glass. was awesome at the time, but just seemed weird.

I love Millerton!!
We camp there once a year since I bought my jet boat. This year we had the boat, a WRIII, and the Superjet.
We took the whole armada up to the area where the river comes in, and it was some of the best conditions I've ever ridden in.
If it were closer to home that would be my regular spot!!
It is also way bigger, deeper, and cleaner than BV, but for some of those reasons probably a lot more dangerous going out solo.. ..

What model of phone do you have?

Casio G'Z One Type S... It is mil spec'd for vibration, drops, dust and moisture and water. It works in upto 3 ft of water for 30 mins... It nice to be able to use the phone with wet hands and not worry about it getting splashed.

Note: The camera sucks on it and the battery life blows but I put up with it to have pretty much an indestructable phone...

They have new model called the boulder with better camera, smaller size and better looks... can't wait till my contract is up...

I thought so... but I need a GSM phone, looking at c702i, it's IP54 rated, but it's still a little steep for $250...
It was $300 a couple of weeks ago, so I'm gonna wait some more.
I wish Casio made the GSM phone, love the G-Shock watches.

I have verizon so it works out for me... For the longest time nextel was the only company with a phone that could take my kind of beating... I went through so many phones with verizon it wasn't even funny

I just went out today by myself. It worries me incase something happened. So i also stay withen swiming distance, wear my helmet, and try to get to crazy.

You gotta think if were to get knocked out or something that would prevent you from swimming then it would be a bad deal with no one with you. I prefer to go with other people or jsut bring a buddy that doesnt ride just in case.

how would you "bring" a buddy that doesnt ride?
what would he do

ride at a small lake close by solo all the time. when riding in the surf though i usually try to have someone with me. the lakes so small i could probably swim the whole thing if i had to.

X2: The wussy boys I ride with always have excuses.... It's not the smartest idea I know but it beats not riding at all on a gorgeous day that everyone seems to have excuses not to ride.

waaaaaaaaawaaaa....coming from somebody who talks smack all day and then shows up 3 hours late when we are on our way in! :Banane26:

One local guy rides Oceanside every morning by himself. And I mean everymornong, I believe he has not missed a day in 800 days now!!

Anyway, guy is probably mid 50's rides a Kawi SXI. He just surf rides, no air. He has broken down probably 5 times in the last 3 years. When he breaks, he ties the rope arround his waist and swims the ski back. If any of you are familiar with where we ride in Oside, he probably swims his ski in 5-7 miles! and swims it out of the surf!

I rarely ride alone, and never in the surf.

i used to ride alone very often.
no more
after nearly getting hit by a boat while swimming in after a breakdown.
luckily the next boat did see me trying to swim across the channel and picked me up.
to many possible chances to get ruined
