Im looking for a video..

I remember seeing it here but I searched and couldnt find it. Its and old school vid with 550s and a Square Nose or two. If I remember right it was shot in mexico. It was an awesome vid and there wasnt even no arial moves in it, just great surf riding. Sorry if it seems vague but I cant remember who was in it..

It's amazing how much the Square Nose looks like a sitdown with a handlepole compared to how light and nimble the 550 looks. Watkins is "riding" the 550 and Mac is "riding on" the SN. Watkins was super smooth.....I love the riding from back then when finesse and style were required due to lack of super stable hulls and gobs of power....it's just a different kind of skill.

Stability of hull and engine size will not make up for balance and proper wave timing.Riding the wave is difficult and takes alot of dedication.A choice has been made to aerial the wave instead of riding it for most.I don't know how to flip but it has been said "it is the easiest trick".If that is true then riding the wave like Watkins and beyond has to be the most difficult.

when i was watching that, i thought it was watkins on both skis and i was thinking is it possible he was better on a 550 than a superjet.

i could watch watkins for hours and he would never have to come unhooked. his surf riding was amazing.

so much better than kick your feet into the holds and idle around till you bust a back flip. backflips were cool for about two weeks in 1998. j/k

Yeaaa!~ Rock that 550.

What a freeking pro. I'm waitin for the day I get killer waves at daytona....

Did anyone else notice that when he sliced that wave and turned back into it, the wave actually stopped his forward motion and pushed him backwards? Ah... killer. 2:05

That's old school trick......if you get your weight way over the nose, you can get the ride plate out of the water, chop the gas, and surf it backwards. I call them "Magic Carpet Rides". Sometimes you can get a decent ride out of it......20' - 30' before you get munched. We also come over the backside sideways, chop the gas, and get the same ride only sideways.....fun stuff!!!

"with handlepoles running low, it was time to move on". I guess they broke a few. When they were eating did they say they were going to Terminator 2 that night?

ATS,You beat me to the classic "line". I was sorting through tapes not too long ago and found the Jet Waves, just had to brush off the dust & pop it in....GREAT VIDEO!

AHHhhh....The "magic carpet ride"....originated by Special-FX!
