I've NEVER ridden anything but my JS550 (which I just got last summer) so You could say I have NO Idea what a good ski vs. a bad ski is. but after riding a 650 sx today, I find myself wanting to ride some other skis.

I always thought my JS was squirly as hell to ride. but the guy that swapped with me said that it was actually a really nice machine. He'd ridden other 550s in the past and said they handled like crap and were kinda doggy. but mine was none of those things. Made me feel good.

His ski (to me) was REALLY stable feeling. especially in the choppy conditions we were riding in. but it didnt launch outta the hole like mine does. it was a really smooth riding machine, but it felt heavy.

so it goes like this. I liked the planted smooth feeling of his machine, but really like to be able to just nail the gas and fly outta the water like mine does.

Probably asking alot though.

I have heard that Blowsion has turned out a few pump conversions for the stock FX1 hulls...that would work quite nicely with a 760 magoo motor

You better be careful what you do at the lake because you will just want something different. I am talking from experience. I had a 650sx and a 750sx two years ago. My son who was 11 at the time and had been riding for 3 + years met Skywalker one week night at the lake. Skywalker had some kind of awesome 701 machine. Some how my son talked him into letting hime ride it. I didn’t hear the end of it for two weeks. It was so fast dad. We need to get one of those dad. ON and ON it went. We ran into Skywalker again a few weeks later and I was asking him how I could get my Kawi’s to perform better. He said do you want the truth? I said yes and he said sell them and get Yamaha SJ. More parts and they are better built (lighter). I listened to him and made the switch. Now have over 8K invested in one ski with 5MM stroker motor. The parts go on from there. It never ends.
So unless you can afford to up grade from a 550, just be happy you have something to ride and don't ride any body elses ski. Your pocket book will be better off.
