I broke a part on my handlepole (95 FX1)

Yeah....so I kind of broke that today, and I don't really have the money for a new handlepole, I cant seem to find the name of this part, Yamaha says that it is considered to be the pole, probably because that it is factory rivited in. Anyone have any useful knowledge and that can help me? I really want to go to Oceanside this Saturday! Thanks guys!

That part is not sold separately. It is specific to FX1s and is not interchangeable with Superjet poles (except for 08)
You need to get another pole, or at least another broken pole with that piece intact.

oh and as you can see with all that scuff, I tried to weld it with the mig welder, but it didn't want to stick, I think its aluminum though, I probably need to tig weld if anything. What do you guys think?

i broke the same piece on my fx-1 and my buddy broke the bottom peice on his.

it took me a year to find a used piece for mine, but since everyone buying the 2008 sj's will probably be changing thiers, your in luck. or you could just find a 96-07 rn superjet pole and replace your steering cable. if you run the top piece from a 96-07 superjet it will give you more throw.

Will it fit though, are the handlepoles the same on a FX1 as a sj?

the top part will fit. you will have to drill outthe rivots in yours and pop yours off, or what i would do (especially if you havent cut your pole shorter yet) is just cut the pole right below the top bracket piece thingy (using the top piece as a guide) and install the top piece from a 2008. it will fit. i have done it. the top is the exact same thing on the 2008's. now post up a wanted ad for one. you should be able to find one from someone who is converting their 08.

I have a brand new 08 pole that I'm going to remove that top section and replace it with a pre 07 upper support.

You pay the shipping cost and it's yours, if it comes off in one piece. :fingersx:

I've heard these things are held on with stainless steel rivets and epoxy.

It should be pointed out that this is not a direct bolt-in replacement.

A pre-08 steering cable is needed, which will need to be modified to fit at the pump end. (cut & rethreaded)

if you get #0's 08 top piece , IT WILL BE A DIRECT REPLACEMENT. however, goodluck getting that top peice off #0 , if you havent cut that pole down yet , that would probably be the best way. then krickon can worry about drilling out the rivots and scraping off the epoxy.

Took up your thoughts on the JB weld, except I decided to go bigger, made a custom stainless steel plate that I mounted under the pole, being held by 1/4" stainless steel screws. Filled in all the cracks with aluminum putty. I think I will be alright, what do you guys think? I think it looks killer, all jimmy rigged and everything. redbull88 helped me put it together today. Who wants to go to Oceanside!?!?!?

Yeah I was just emailing Jake, I can't go tomorrow but I can go any other weekend. My friend and I just started jumping, were both 19 and on FX1's, but hey....we gotta start somewhere...thanks though, I will be out there next Saturday...
