Hydraulic trim actuator

I just picked up a couple pieces for making a C.A.T.S. and am looking to see what it's going to take to put it all together. I got a cable lever and a hydraulic type so I am trying to find info on hydraulic trim setups. I know R-Pot designs used to make one but I am not finding much info about them, even the new dual piston one is scarse.

I've spent some time searching for tidbits here and there with not much actual info so I thought I should start a new thread on the subject and get some updates. Pros/ cons.

Everybody seems to agree that the cable is the weak link so is the hydraulic a good way to go?

hydraulic is smooth and works under power. i am waiting on my final prototype for my up trim system.

I haven't read of anyone trying it but one thing to think about is water ingestion and maintenance of hydraulic lines. Could be awesome...could be an expensive nightmare.

Did they not ever make mainstream? I can remember seeing them for sale a few years ago every where I looked, now that I have one they seem to have become a white elephant.

Ill tell u right now u will loose alot of feel with this design.
On and off motion when ur riding. Its been tried. If u notice most of all jap pro rides use dirtbike clutch levers. The longer lever will
give more than enough pull with u still feeling whats going on.
Also its a more reliable way to go, asp if ur doing comps and u dont
want lines blowing out, seals going, ect. Just my oppinion
since ur going to get the same or better results with a GOOD
cable.

Good to know. The other lever I have is an ASV F3 Standard Clutch lever.

problemn is not the cable blowing so much its the proper aligment of the cable and the cable design you need a serious cable to be able to withstand the forces . if its not aligned properly they will fray and break very quickly

Out of curiosity, why would it be important to "feel" what is going on with the trim nozzle? I have never used one so there may be an obvious reason I am missing. Up-trim would seem like an On-Off type of thing; is there any reason to run in the middle?

I remember reading of a system that used compressed air to actuate an air cylinder, it worked instantly but required charging the air cylinder every X-number of shots. Seems like you could use a std. CO2 bottle (bb guns) and get quite a few shots with easy refills.
