How should I repair this?

I only have a tiny soft spot in the glass (See picture) the rest is solid.

Thoughts on bondo-glass filler (I have some on the shelf)? I just need it to last me the summer, I have plans for it this winter.

Please excuse my Ghetto pallet

I would try and layer some glass in there and fill it up with a combo of chopped glass and resin. Wont be the best way but should hold much better then bondo

Id just use chop and resin. Just kinda wet it out and layer it up then just sand and excess down once cured. Then if you really wanted cover it with a layer of cloth but i think the chop and resin would hold fine for the summer

Thank you, I will look into that.

grind it all out and sand it open. then put down a couple layers of glass as long as it didn't puncture all the way through don't worry about it.
Are you also suggesting the chopped class method?

Depends on how deep that goes. If it's just on the outside then grind away all the loose stuff and build back up with increasing sizes of fiberglass. Then you can grind/fill/sand to get the cosmetics right. If it goes deeper then you will have to repair from the inside first, then grind back to your repair and build up as above.

no. don't use chop. since you should use epoxy resin you will not use chop. Chop is for use with polyester resin... it will work but just not as good. polyester resin is very thin in comparison to two part epoxy resin...

This ski is made out of SMC right?

I will have to inspect the damage tomorrow to see how deep it is.

That was a good read, and helped a lot.

It looks like the purple bottom of an FX-1 to me.... so no, not SMC-its GLASS.

I should of included that it's a FX-1

oh good! you can use polyester resin! yay! WARNING WARNING ALWAYS WEAR A MASK, SAFETY GLASSES, AND GLOVES WHEN HANDLING MEKP AND POLYESTER RESIN!!!!!! THIS STUFF WILL DESTROY YOUR LUNGS!!! BE CAREFUL! A WELL VENTILATED AREA IS A MUST.
ok my rant is done. just be safe and have fun! another thing to remember is to only glass when the temp is 60* or higher

i didn't. i just bought it. apparently some drunk guy ran it up onto rift raft thinking it was a beach and left it there. the owner found the ski 5 miles away. It had floated for a day and a half with out anybody picking it up on fourth of july.
