Super Jet How often to replace bendix bushings?

My flywheel cover, stator, and starter are out of my ski and I was wondering if I should go ahead and replace the bendix bushings too. I searched and didn't see anything on it.

no need in changing unless its worn out. Luckly I have never had to change any on my skis. I have had to change them for a few other people.

They have a spiral oil groove cut into the inside. Degrease yours and check for wear and if the spiral can still be seen. Dry fit your bendix and check the fit.

When reassembling, from the front bushing back: washer then spring then washer then bendix then rear washer. Grease both bushings before assembly. I use corrosionX on the bendix itself for protection and lubrication.

If bushing needs replacement, then just screw in a tap, attach visegrips with a slide hammmer and pop out.

The case side bushing is always worn out on just about every set of cases that come through the shop, 85/15 if you have engine apart and haven't replaced it, now's a good time to do it.
The front cover not near as bad more like 60/40.
Not until you replace it, that you realize how bad your was worn, thinking it was OK.
We use new OEM bushings from Yamaha.

Alright, I'll go ahead and change them out then. My bendix looks good so I'll keep it. I can't remember if the guy that I bought the ski a few years ago had it replaced with the starter or not but it looks new.
