How many people are BR their SXR's?

I am having some issues with some pcs on my SXR and am looking for some feed back on parts, issues, etc. It seems that not that many people are on here posting about issues with failed BR's on SXR's. My hood keeps coming loose and I'm wondering if anyone else is having similar issues. I know of a few, but how many do you know about from all the freerides etc?

I have this problem as well. The best solution is hoodstraps and not smashing the ski on its side. This, for the most part, is easier said then done.

Good Luck ... it can be done.

I never tried in the flat.. But on a small surf day, we were all trying eachothers skis.. and I grabed my buds sxr with holds and pipe and barreled it.. They have nice mid range, so it throws ya !
Did not notice about straps though !
Good luck... there is a Kawy guy that goes HUGE that rides with Coung (2ride) on the boards... I am sure he can give you some tips... that and Matt smith I think.. THey throw it big on the sxrs... :Banane09:

yeah, both Matt and Darin are sick riders on an SXR for sure.

Brian (Proformance1) has hood straps and a limiting rope. He gets about 1/2 around on flat, sometimes further. The other day he nearly landed his first BR (85%) in about chest high surf. He second attempt lead to disaster...

the stock latching system on the SXR's is by far pure junk........

yeah, Brian has gone through the stock one and one blowsion billet latch. The second billet latch is showing some signs of failure as well. I told him to scrap the whole setup and go to a set of ratcheting hood straps.

Yep I keep breaking stuff off, and then I finally made it around off a boat wake and I was like " Hey this is way easier on parts!!" Problem is I don't make it around all the time, and when i come up short, about 1/2 way, stuff comes loose. I ripped the hood latch open again tonight, just doing an inverted sub. At least the TBM hood mounts have not broke like the 2 sets of billet ones I had before this. Now I'm thinking ratchet set up for the hood straps. First, I'm going to move the hood latch up to preload the seal more. We'll see how that goes.

Come on who else is rolling their SXR's? I know Goingbigger is, who else?

I hear you. SXR's have a inherent flaw with latch/ hood. the hood latch is worthless even if you get a billet latch and the hood falls off or sways side to side and lets in water cuz it doesn't sit down tight. Some guys do straps. i founds those aren't tight enough. some guys run a ratchet strap-thats not tight enough either. I've landed 3/4 BR's from 15 feet in the air and put 6 in. holes in the side of my ski but my hood stays on now. You can get stainless ratchet straps from suncor. You can also put a couple strips of hydroturf around the lip of the hood to keep it from swaying side to side. Videos below some of my BR's on an SXR from earlier days. Here are some pics of the hood to help you guys out

I have rolled my SXR about 15 times...but I need like 3 footers with a little space between em. I did my biggest one at WaveRave (about 8 feet).

I have the ratchet straps too. My hood used to blow off all the time and I was breaking the front hood hooks. It has NEVER even budged a little bit with ratchet straps over the last 2 years or even loosened up the hood hooks. ps... I beat the sheit out of it. I am going to take the hood latch off...I don't even lock it anymore.

Rachet Straps rule. Everyone should run them.

So, you put turf inside the hood lip also to keep it from moving from side to side? I'll have to look at that tonight. That seems to be alot of my problem so far, the side impact forces the latch open. I just ordered my Suncor SS ratchet straps, hopefully that will stop that issue.

Hey Mat, I noticed that you moved you limiting rope latch to an eye hook. Is that because when you over extend the handpole it pops off the latch?

Your dash is scary!

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
my solution for latch/straps. Saw this on a couple SXR's early this year in FL so I figured I'd try it. No complaints!
