its a lot harder to write how to do it than actually doing it , i zero the gauge by pushing the piston tight onto the squish area ,when you zero it as long as you use either the piston you are going to run or an identdical dummy the raised area ontop of the piston is taken into account. because piston and squish are in contact when you zero any angles of dome or squish angle only get bigger and deto tends to start from the outside.
i think ther is a lot of margin for error trying to fid the narrowest part of solder with a vernier.
you may not of noticed but i wasnt demostrating this with a ski piston but rather an aprillia GP piston from my 250cc superkart which runs high revs and borderline deto but if you want 0 to 130mph in 10 seconds thats how it is
