this kid i know needed cash in the winter and gave me his x2 for $500. it stared getting nice out and he wanted it back. he tired giving me 800 to get the ski back. but i told him i wanted to try it out before i sold it back to him. needless to say i never sold it back after i road it once i was hooked.

a friend told me for years that he had a "kawasaki 650 sitdown hull" in his back yard and that i could have it if i wanted it.

i told him i didnt want it for about 3 years until he was moving and called me one more time and said that it also has some parts that i may be able to use, so i said WTF, ill go see what parts hes got.

when i got to his place, i see an X2 sitting there!!! DOH!

my bud got one last year as a basket case, he got it going and i rode it once and was pretty much hooked. i started looking for about 2-3 months for an x2 and couldnt find anything close enough. so i bought a 550 in nashville, a week later one showed up on ebay about 3 hours away. it was a completely stock '88. i got it for 500 and havent looked back. been blowing good money on x2's ever since and parted the 550 :)

I bought a 650 SX. Stuff broke, so I went looking for used parts. I found a man who bought a house with a pile of skis left in the yard. I got 1 650SX, 2 X2 and 2 440's for $100. Sadly, no titles, but the spare parts got my ski running a some extra cash. After i blew up the engine in my SX, I bought 3 more X2's for $500 because one had an engine in it and the guy had a bunch of extra parts I could sell.

The funny thing is that my friend doesn't like stand ups, but kept saying he'd like to try the X2. I built the X2 for him to try it out, not me, but after I ended up trying it out, I'm hooked!

I got my 750 in a sit down for $450. I already made $110 off that, and my buddy gave my his old 750 pump since he got this new one so I got an additional $50 credit on a job, and I still have the trailer and the sit down to sell. Not bad when a hobby can pay for itself!

Well, my addiction started back in '89 when I saw an X2 for the first time at my local lake. Wasn't until last year that I finally had a garage to call my own and a place to wrench on/store skis.

I sold the second X2 as a bare hull the engine was toast in that one and I kept the electronics and the jet pump, then I snatched the engine out of my X2 and put it in a Seacouch that I bought for $100.00,I painted some pink stripes on the couch where the nasty looking decals used to reside and sold it for $1500.00.I have $25.00 in the 720 engine in my X2 right now and I probably spent $200.00 or so on bars, grips, batteries, through hull exhaust and some other odds and ends. The resin and glass are supplied by my business so technically its low cost but not actually free.So far I am in the black on this project.

Back in the summer of 2001 my best friend and dirt bike/ATV riding buddy bought a 650 SX. Of course I "had" to get one too. So this guy I worked with at the time kept talking how he had a ski for sale. He would always say the handle bars can be adjusted up or down but it didn't have a hand pole. I finally went ot check it out one day and decided ot buy it. I was blind to the whole jet ski world at the time and didn't realize my life was about to change....

So for 1000 bucks I got a really clean 95 X2 and trailer. The ski didn't start because the starter needle bearing rusted solid to the armature shaft. I rebuilt the starter and the also froze up/rusted bendix. I hit the water and all over the river on the labor day weekend. We rode those 3 days and then my friends 650 SX tossed a rod. That ended our riding for the year.

That winter, 2001/2002, I added a 650 SX to my stable that I found on the www.JetSki.com classifieds. I modded both and set out to be a jet ski king that next summer. I suffered multiple set backs as the newbie jet ski learning curve is very steep. I ended up blowing up a few engines and breaking a few parts along the way.

After several seasons of bad luck, lots of money spent, and after crashing into my riding buddy and smashing both our hulls, I called it quits and parted out my skis some. I believe I was skiless and didn't ride skis for two whole summers!

So in Feb 2006 I snagged my 93 X2 off of eBay for a top bid of $810 bucks. I paid the guys dad to deliver it from MI to WV for 100 additional bucks. It was all stock except for the oil block off and cheesey UM stickers he added. (I ma definetly a UM fan after the stole both the BB and FB head coaches from my Alma Matter, WVU).

Then in Sept 2006 I bought an 89 650 X2 I found on eBay because it was only 700 bucks and had a FPP on it. The high bidder flaked out and the seller called me and offered it to me for sale since I was close by and had showed interest. High bid was liek 800 and I got it for 700. I even told hime he should part it and he gould get hos money back even more. he just wanted it gone. I kept most of the parts I wanted that were aftermarket. I had kept a parts lot worth over 700 and parted the rest out. I made my money back by keeping those parts and then doubled my money by selling the rest of the parts left. In the end, I made out decently.

August 2007 I bought my 94 X2 for a winning bid of 825 bucks on ebay. It was 100% all stock faded bar pad and torn ride mats.

The 95 X2 hull was repaired way back when and I rode it some more those few summers but eventally this past summer, 2007, I took the sawzall to it. I also sold the 650 SX hull sometime in the spring of 2007.

So needless to say I have owned 4 X2's to date and still have 2.5 of them, lol. All but one came from ebay originally. All the parts I sold were sold on ebay. Needles to say... I have a problem...

Random phone call hooks are the best! One time in college....

The other day someone called me about a 750 SXi Pro. Funny thing was they called me two or three weeks ago and I told them I already got what I needed, an engine. But heck if they are giving it away, I will take it!
