Ok I could not wait till Monday; here are some pictures of the hood straps and limiting rope I made. Oxnarad111 helped with the install, it took a little longer than I thought it would. We had to take out the battery and the tank to put in the front bolts. With all the hardware cost was around $16.00 bucks. The zips ties are only temporary, that is why rope is off center. I wanted to see how it would fit and we were running out of time because we had to put a pole on Oxnard111 sxr-800. That way we can go ridding tomorrow. Thanks for all the pictures and info on the subject.

I made mine yesterday, easy as cake, and work awesome.
2 8ft. straps @ $2.00ea. = Total: $4.00
1 box containing 8 Grommets @ 2.89 = Total: $2.89
2 heavy duty buckles @ $2.00ea. =Total: $4.00
2 Beef Chalupas from Taco Bell= Total $5.00
TOTAL: $10.89 + Lunch.
I bolted my hood straps onto the handlpole bracket, and then the buckles I bolted to the dash using the electrical box bolts. I noticed some people left the straps hanging after feeding them through the bottom buckle on the dash so they could be adjustable. Instead, I looped it through like regularly, and then folded them up through the top slit so they were behind, and then I put the grommet through both the strap and the left over strap that would have been to adjust it, so thatit is bolted in to the dash as well. This way, I dont have to worry about anything coming loose on the bottom, it also feels stronger and more secure, and looks nicer since there isnt a tail hanging there. I also didnt want to be able to adjust the bottom buckles, because I want the buckles to stay on the turfed part of the dash so they never touch the paint.
The top buckles on the straps I left adjustable with a little tail to adjust, and folded then burned the edges.
Here's some pictures...

I made a mistake on mine and cut off the excess not thinking that you need some strap to pull on to tighten it up.
if you trim all the excess strap off you have nothing to pull on to keep it tight all the time .,
Believe it or not just the change in temperature from morning till afternoon can make your straps real loose .
What's tight when I leave the house in the morning is a half inch loose by afternoon and you need at least a hand width of strap to pull on it to make it tight again so I think leaving the excess on there is a good idea .
I cut mine so short the first time I couldnt grab the strap to tighten it up so I would rather leave em long .

I left a good handleful of excess strap on the top buckles to pull and tighten, I had a feeling they would strech and especially when it hits the water they will probably stretch a little. The bottom half of the buckles are bolted and will not move and are not adjustable, the top buckles I left the excess on to do all of the tightening. You might not be able to see it in the pictures, it kind of blends in.

I still think the Blowsion ones are worth the money and the best deal .
time is money and you have to know where to go or drive around to shop for your straps and buckles and hardware .
unless you live right next to a hardware store it's still gonna take a couple of hours to make em .
1 hour of my time is worth more to me than the $30 Blowsion charges .
blowsion kit is $30 and it takes a half hour to install it .Money well spent .
But hey nice job by all you do it your selfers.if you can save $10 bucks on your hood straps then you only need another $620 for a b pipe. :cheer:

Im all for supporting Blowsion. But...not ready to ride yet anyways, and yes, I do live less than a mile from the hardware store :wink: And I was there already picking up some stuff for my Dad, so I picked up some stuff to make the hoostraps (which was all at the hardware store), went home and instead of sitting around watching TV, made hoodstraps.

Honestly, I am all for supporting blowsion, but I had nothing better to do so I made some of my own and it turned out to be only 1/3 the price and no waiting.

I am also all for supporting blowsion. I have bought many parts from them and always will, their service is great. I am lucky enough that boaters world is rite down the street from my house. About the B-pipe, I have one thank goodness. They are getting hard to find and when you do they cost to much. I am saving my penny’s for foot wells and mat kit. Which I will be getting from Blowsion, just have to decide which ones I want.:biggthumpup:

After picking-up on this thread (and the associated links) I managed to make a set of hood straps along with a pole limmiter. Just got to finish fitting to my ski. Put it all together for about $12 Aus, and some time (mainly while watching TV of a night).

you need the little extra buckle though or you wont be able to keep them tight.
I had to send my wife to hancock fabric store for the buckles since wally mart was out.
I wrapped the strap around the handle pole bolt, no holes to drill in the front and easy and simple.
no grommets on mine either.
fold the end over ( double it) about 2 inches, then melt thru teh center with a soldering iron.
1/4" bolt goes right through, then sandwich it with fender washers.
easy, cheap, and stronger than a grommet.
