Hood Strap Mounting Ideas

Well I'm going to Westmarine tomorrow and I'm gonna make my self a set of hood straps and a limiting rope.

I was wondering where everyone mounted their hood straps? Obviously I know you have to mount two of them on the dash, but where do the front two mount?

Any help/pics would be greatly appreciated.

I also assume for the limiting rope that I'll mount one eye on the dash and one eye in the hole thats already in the bottom of the top part of the handlepole right near the steering?

mounted mine using longer SS bolts and SS washers through the hood hooks... Works good. Not the best pic...

Take your pole bracket off and sew a roll on the end of the strap then insert it under the bracket.. Looks pretty good that way

Mounting the pole mount to a solid flat surface is very important. If you put nylon webbing between your hull and mount, this no longer provides the solid surface needed and could put added stress on the fiberglass area - when you tighten up on the mounting bolts or when you ride.

This isn't a mounting idea, but don't buy the plastic buckles if that is what you want to use. My buddy and I received our thanks to a K-Mart Shopping cart. 'Nuff said.

Im am really against any type of stealing so I'll stick with my west marine employee discount. I've got an idea the clips will only cost me $.40 or so, the webbing is pretty much free, and I get 50% off stainless hardware.

I'd really like to find some awesome hood strap material. something with a cool patern on it. I figured I could find a great dog leash but they all seem to be cute dog themes.

There are 2 holes in the under side of the stock bracket that will hold the 3/4 ... or was it 1" webbing that I used... either way that is where I jammed the webbing and I DID file a small spot in the bracket so that the webbing doesn't get cut by the pressure of tightning the bracket down... I am runing a stock bolt tightened down so that it stays put and have never had a problem with any of the components in 4 years.

Very clean- I like that a lot, thanks for the idea. Also did you shorten/repair a stock pole?

The stock was broken a few times so it is -3 inches and the last time I hyperextended it I busted the lower bracket kinda split it on the top side. So I had that stainless collar made to go around the bracket and just used 1/4-20 carrage bolts to hold it all together. And I done the limiting rope and hood straps at the same time

Here is the overall setup.. I have to have everything symetrical so I made my limiting rope buckle in the center with 3/16 coated steel cable. I also used a horse bridal so the ting is super beefy and the buckles and strap I got from wal-mart inthe fabric department. Total in parts was only $18 bolts cable straps and all

Good job, now some kid is going to fall out of the cart on his head. They are less than $1 each:bad3:
